Most of your guesses were pretty spot on!! He doesn't have a lot to hide and I kinda made his more straightforward, he's not surrounded in mystery and great tragedy like Kaelor is LMAO

His mother is THE Pokémon Professor for the region, and his older brother is a big name Pokémon photographer. So they've got complicated feelings. Currently studying under their mother while they find what they want to do in life.
He's 18 and has a growing resentment towards Pokémon in general. He only has one, an Amaura/Sandile fusion*, which was a gift from his brother. Can't bring himself to get rid of her.
