Description
Thanks for reading : ). Hope it helps somehow, haha to pull off such tutorial costs me two years of drawing. And I'm still a starter, just barely got a touch of watercolor. Let's all try harder neh~ If you have any questions/things you don't understand, feel free to ask me, though my English sucks, I'll try my best to explain.
I'm probably gonna make another tutorial using my favorite color: blue, I'll draw boys that time. But when you ask? When my skill is better =]]/ I'm learning more coloring tricks and will try to share it with you all.>
Some silly stuff to check out if you're very very have-nothing-to-do, My water-color improvement, where I explain a bit about my coloring tools (meme based off Kamaniki 's) and Full view of the artwork in the tutorial.

I think the art would have been more stunning if she had another eye. I also like how you coloured the lips. How did you do that?

I can't express well about the lip. You can say that I just add red at the center of her lower lip. When it's half-dry, I add water to spread the color around.
The eyes is a real fail to admit =]]]. I colored it quickly without thinking anything at all, so it didn't appeal very nice (after finished coloring for the tutorial, I didn't care about other parts anymore so hahaha =]]]]]])

I've been looking for that watercolour everywhereeeeee and you even have 25 ones ! uhmm btw what kind of nail brush are you using and whats the size? also, whats the thickness of your watercolour paper? I have a problem in handling the water damps even though I have used lots of tissue and less water ; n ; help me please? idk where to find that kind of brush..mine is either too big or too small...I like yur brush they look great.

I brought my watercolor totally by accident when I went to Singapore, and it was hard to tracking back this item on Internet since I can't access Japanese Pentel website ==". But if you have better chance to use professional color then I don't think you should aim for this box, aim for stuff like Leningrat or Dr.Ph Martins or other famous brands (they might be expensive but they're good ^^). If you can order stuff online, check out this page, I love this place because you can buy arty stuff with much cheaper price [link]
About the nail brush. Mine is a Chinese one with no information AL ATT O.O, it's totally a myterious type, something called xianfeng or HUAXIABIDU I don't even . The size is 0, it's really soft so it's easy to brushing around the paper.
The paper, then AGAIN I can't give you much infor since it's a Chinese one too, and I can't read Chinese and they write nothing about the thickness TT v TT (there're so much Chinese items in my country ). I think the thickness is about 100-130gsm, it's very light.
I guess if you use less water but still have water damps then it's because your brush is so good at wetting = can really keep water on it? I feel like it'd be calligraphic brush. If it's not, then you can try to find a smaller brush. If both are not working, you can try this: when you water the brush, only water the tip of the brush, if you water too much, you land your brush on the palette first, then when feel it's alright, you land it on your art? Please try, I will think of more solutions if possible ;";...

When I use lots of water and a pencil base, the graphite always muddies the line quality and the color. How do you overcome this?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
handsomedara In reply to Obi-quiet [2012-06-07 03:28:22 +0000 UTC]
I think it probably depends on the kind of paper you use. If the lineart is muddy but doesn't affect your overall art then you should ignore it and color until the end, then after you finish with the coloring, re-line the artwork with color pencil/ink/etc (remember to wait until the water is all dried). And if the muddy line affects your artwork, then you should color it this way: choose the part near your line as the white part and when you color, you avoid coloring over it.
I guess my explanation isn't very clear, so you can try taking photo of your problem and let me see, I'll try to find a better solution ^^.

Love your tut! When you apply new colors (like how you gradually made her skin darker and layered the colors) did you wait for you paper to dry first? Or did you work wet-on-wet?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
handsomedara In reply to darkbubblepop09 [2012-06-02 19:53:35 +0000 UTC]
For the skin I always wait for the paper to dry first, so the shadow I add won't blend away. I only do wet-on-wet when I want to color a large area.
Hope it helps ^^
