I am hopelessly obsessed with rendition of Wicked Witch of the West from the Broadway play 'Wicked' (based on a book which is based on 'Wizard of Oz'
. Her character is everything I admire and hope to be - strong, fearless, determined, misunderstood (okay maybe not that last part).The part of Elphaba (the witch) was played by Lisa Brescia (standby for Stephanie J. Block) when I saw it, and she was really amazing. Her voice was beautiful and clear, and she played the part with a subtle sensitivity and humility When she sang this song called 'Defying Gravity' I think I cried a little hahahah.

For future reference, and not to make myself seem smart, "Wicked" the musical is actually based on the book "Wicked" by Gregory Maguire.

The book went excellent thanks. It is, obviously, a lot sadder than the musical. I like both though, in different ways.

This is only musical that I've loved every single song from, and Elphaba's quickly become one of my all time favorite fictional characters.
Beautiful picture, you really captured her spirit here, and I love the battle ax silhouettes in the background; you perfectly captured the essence of that scene when she sings Defying Gravity!

oooh now you make me miss the show so much! I love all the songs too... do you get that feeling that each of the songs draw out an amazing range of emotional response? Like Popular is all whimsical and you feel all light hearted, and then Defying Gravity totally send a shiver down your back.

i like how shes being attacked in ur pic and how all throughout the play she is being emotionally attacked...i also really like the look in her eye..it's like, i dont want to have to fight and act wicked, but you force me to....its very cool
