Description
Some common mistakes in approvals and how to dodge them!
Also just some anatomy reminder stuff
MYO Guide for quick navigation
DON'T
>> Add upgrades such as brows, nostrils, hair tufts, or pupils
>> Create a muzzle by putting a bump on the face
>> Draw tongues that aren't forked and don't match one of the three belly color defaults (mouths must also match)
>> Add or remove fingers from the paws
>> Shape the paw pads
>> Remove the cheek pouch
>> Remove or drastically shorten the mane
>> Draw belly scales that are too sharp or shaped in some other way. They must also face downwards and run all the way to the tail tip. Must be one of the three default colors and match the tongue/mouth.
>> Shape or add rough edges to the baby fin
DO
>> Avoid adding any upgrades
>> Keep the face a rounded curve
>> Make the tongue forked and match the belly color (mouths must also match)
>> Give them 3 fingers
>> Keep paw pads round
>> Include the cheek pouch
>> Make sure the mane is present and poofy
>> Keep the belly scales rounded and facing downwards. Must also run all the way to the tail tip and be one of the three default colors, matching the tongue/mouth
>> Draw the baby fin smooth and simple

Does that mean have to change how I draw the fins?

It's ideal if you shoot for the basic fins since changing them will be an upgrade later on ;D
We won't make anybody go back and edit anything, though, that'd be a mess

Oh I see, I'll draw them round from now on!
That would be a pretty big mess XD.

Um... So if our applications have some of the "no's" based more off of style, like pointed downward scales (or the shaped fin) can we just omit those from future drawings. Also, how short of a mane is too short? Both of my Kekes have manes that sort of mimic real hair styles and one in particular is comparable to a mullet. Not sure if it counts. I kind of did a few things from a character design standpoint without realising there were strict species design rules...

Yeah, absolutely! We do try to work around styles, though. We're not ruling with an iron fist here >v<
Fluff's a bit hard to judge. Generally, as long as it isn't just two little spikes and sticks off at least some, it should be fine. The keke on the left here has too tiny a mane vv

"Create a muzzle by putting a bump on the face"
clenches heart my style
in all honesty though please do tell me when I make this mistake from now on because looking at my 90% of my art it shows that due to my style of drawing

Tbh, it's not the head shape I normally use either, but I thought it suited them
Eh, we mainly just correct people on anatomy for approvals for now, as we don't want to be overbearing with it
And a lot of your keke art either has them looking forwards or with an eye in just the right spot >v< So, it's not that bad

ah, okay! I want my kekes to be very close to the canon so I hope you see why I was concerned!
