The firefruit is a plant that works sort of opposite to most. It feeds off of darkness instead of light, so it will only gain progress towards ripening at night. Each plant grows one, greyish fruit at a time. Once the fruit becomes as ripe as it can, it splits in half, revealing the red flesh and two blackish seeds inside. The meat glows faintly orange in the dark. After splitting, the plant will drop its seeds and, if not eaten, the fruit will quickly rot. It will then start growing another. When squeezed, firefruits produce bright orange, bioluminescent juice that tastes like slightly spicy grapefruit. These plants tend to grow in large clusters due to the short range they're able to spread their seeds
