Description
Long overdue, but I never really wanna look up this stuff and figure it out X)
Anatomy may vary depending on subspecies, but this should cover the general bases
- The trachea and esophagus do not intercept. They each have their own separate opening at the back of the mouth. Alert nerves in the mouth and muzzle detect what substances entering the mouth are made up of. If it's a solid or liquid, the esophagus will open on impulse and the trachea will close off to prevent choking. Likewise, the esophagus will close and the trachea open if it's a gas. The Snakekey can manually change which system opens and closes if they really need to. Despite the separation, the larynx still functions and allows Snakekeys to speak
- Snakekeys have two large lungs. The secondary lung is the general shape of both human lungs combined, located in the torso, and supported by a diaphragm. The primary lung is a much longer organ located in the naga tail and connected to the trachea by the overarching bronchus. A keke can function with reduced efficiency with only one working lung due to their size
- The digestive system is completely self-sufficient, capable of detoxing almost anything in a Snakekey's body and producing any chemicals it may need. Food is majorly digested in the initial stomach and then passed onto the absorption stomach to be finished up and absorbed. As a keke has no way of expelling waste, they have an additional organ called the eliminary loop. It has six chambers, each with a different way to break down material. If the absorption stomach can't do its job, it will pass food down to the loop. Once it goes through the loop, it will be returned to the stomach. If not fully digestible from there, it will be sent through the loop again as many times as needed
- A Snakekey's hands may bear more resemblance in skeletal structure to flippers than fingers. This allows them more mobility, but less dexterity. Each finger has only one working joint by default
- The pelvis consists of two separated bones that serve little purpose. Mostly, they only change a Snakekey's appearance slightly depending on their morph
- Unless upgraded otherwise, the skull does not contain a nasal cavity, as Snakekeys do not initially have noses
