Description
One of two "parasite" species I came up with while just trying to sleeb,,
🔸 Skincers use their sharp teeth or thumb spurs (in the case of males) to tear free lose parts of Scarfyz scarves for their own personal use. They do not take entire scarves
🔸 Males use their curved horns to pin other males by the necks to hard surfaces and then attack with their thumb spurs. Due to their large own horns, their opponents will be unable to break free unless they use enough brute force
🔸 Using delicate fingers and materials from other species they predate on, Skincers are capable of sewing. They use this ability to attach enough Scarfyz scarves together to properly cover their necks, though they leave their manes uncovered. Manes are considered sexy, man, you can't cover that up. Females, as their manes go down their whole necks, tend to have more of a shawl arrangement
🔸 Skincers have come to view having a Scarfyz scarf as attractive and a sort of sign of being able to handle themselves in the wild. They are incredibly unlikely to mate with an individual not capable of assembling their own scarf... (scoff)
🔸 They have a refined sense of color and design. As such, they tend to only assemble scarves that they think actually go well together - often of the same type (such as only winter scarves). Ramshackle assemblages are looked upon as just that: ramshackle
🔸 Using their abilities, Skincers may also make themselves other clothing items such as wearable blankets, gloves, and drapes
🔸 Males stand roughly 6-8 feet, so they're quite a bit taller than Scarfyz. They have a slow, giraffe-like gait
🔸 It's beneficial to them that Scarfyz do not die from scarf loss and instead reproduce. Because of this, they can be seen giving helpful gifts to Scarfyz they have their eye on or have already robbed
🔸 While quite intelligent, Skincers do not have the vocal cords to properly communicate with Scarfyz. They can use methods such as drawing pictures if they have a strong need/desire to speak to one, but do not have a common language with which to write
🔸 Individuals can live in any sort of group or all by themselves - it's based on personal preferences. Skincers can be seen in mating pairs, familial groups, large herds, and so on
🔸 Despite their imposing stature, Skincers are quite delicate compared to, say, a bear. They will flee from large, bulky, or determined predators unless they have a substantial backup
🔸 Make guttural noises like... the antelopes from World of Zoo...?
🔸 Fully capable of understanding Scarfyz speech if they have been taught to do so. They just can't speak it
