yeah so thanks for the advice on colour
i tried this with a tan shirt but it didn't look quite right so i changed it to green. the hair is ginger.. really just on the scan the colours go funny

Those colors look good it turned out good at the end
use paint.net to edit the colors from the scan it's a decent free program to edit and crop images too. ^_^
