Description The Twelve Labors of Hercules (11/12)
Hercules vs Atlas, golden apples and anyone else who wants a fight.

Hercules was tasked with obtaining some of the golden apples of the Hesperides. Trouble was he didn't know how to get them so he set off aimlessly and didn't ask for directions. He got into lots of random fights then finally he was directed to Atlas. It the daughters of Atlas who guarded the apples, along with a hundred headed dragon, so Hercules asked Atlas if he would get him a few. Atlas agreed, and asked Hercules if he would take his burden whilst he got the apples. The burden was a little extreme; Atlas held up the sky and the earth...but Hercules agreed. Later, Atlas returned with the apples and told Hercules he would take them back for him and leave our hero standing with the world on his shoulders for all time. Hercules said it was fine, but asked Atlas if he would take the burden back for a second whilst he got some padding for his shoulders. Atlas took back the mighty burden and Hercules ran off home with the apples. Yay for Hercules!

Some stories say that after completing his labors, Hercules felt bad about leaving Atlas behind like that, so one day he came back and built the Pillars of Hercules so that Atlas could retire and rest his weary shoulders.

Ah interesting, that would probably make a good follow up image, with the two of them making up..Atlas with an untrusting look on his face.

It'd be a nice tie-in to Hercules freeing Prometheus from HIS torment.

Doing a comic on this exact myth for school.

The pic should be great inspiration. Thanks!

No problem, there's a picture for each of the labors too. Good luck with the comic.

You're right, Atlas is a big a dick as Hercules..maybe it's got something to do with having a beard..

There were alot of beards back then...

Maybe that's why the Greeks and Romans are so crazy.
