I am a fan of red dragonflies. Aren't you?
This one is, I think, a nice specimen of Crocothemis. Male, because the females are yellow.
The insect doesn't look very good, but it will take off again as if nothing had happened in a few seconds.

Photo taken at the Hanau pond, in the Parc des Rochers et Tourbières du Pays de Bitche, on the marked observation path.

As for most of my dragonfly photos, I shot with the Canon 300mm f/4, equipped with an extension ring to be able to approach at about 1 meter.
