This sequence was commissioned by Tankite .

EDIT: It's genuinely intriguing to me the number of people who feel the need to rush to the comment section to inform me that a shell is a part of the turtle - an actual body part - as if this is some kind of rarely known fact?

Indeed, when it comes to the real, extent turtles and tortoises which inhabit our Earth, their shells are actually a part of their skeletal structures (specifically, their spines). However, this is a commission featuring images of a mutant cartoon turtle. I gave the client the choice between treating the shell like part of his body and treating it like a garment, and I deliver what the client asks of me.

Not to mention that TMNT designs pretty famously use the shells of the turtles to emulate armor, as the characters regularly engage in combat and call themselves 'ninjas'. I seriously didn't think people would be so incredibly upset by the choice to treat his shell like an accessory, especially considering the franchise we're dealing with, but...ah, here we are.

[NOTE: As I was finishing this piece, one of my partners mentioned that today is actually World Turtle Day! What luck! So, I wish a happy World Turtle Day to you all! Don't forget to help our turtle friends off of highways and public roads, and remember to dispose of all trash and recycling in their proper containers so that we can help do our part to reduce the amount of human-originated waste (especially plastic) that ends up in our waterways and oceans. Turtles need protecting too!]
