"Human! It's on your left! No, your other left!"

Papyrus was emphatically nodding towards a particular spoon laying on the counter as he tried to direct his friend to it.

"Is this it?" (Y/N) asked as her hand made contact with the sender wooden handle. Without waiting for confirmation, she picked it up and turned back to where Papyrus's voice was emanating from, spoon held aloft, and the Skeleton had to duck or be struck by it.

"Exactly, human! Thank you!" He smiled at her and took the spoon from her hand. "I'm smiling now, even though you can't see it!"

What brought on this waving about of spoons and ducking skeletons was Papyrus wanting to cook spaghetti with his best friend, (Y/N). When he asked her if she would like to, it gone something like this.

(Y/N) crossed her arms over her chest, her face betraying her apprehension.

"Papyrus, while I'm flattered that you want to cook with me, I think your plan has one little flaw; I'm blind. How can a blind girl cook anything?"

Papyrus laid a gloved hand on her shoulder saying, "Not to worry, human! I, the Great Papyrus, will be there to direct you in an efficient manner!" His usual tone of 'all will be well' filled (Y/N) with Determination.

(Y/N) grinned and stretched out a hand until she found Papyrus then wrapped her arms around his torso. "Alright. I'll cook with you if you promise not to let me mess it up."

"Okay Human, I'm going to lead you to the stove so you can try stirring the spaghetti," Papyrus declared as he took (Y/N)'s hand and placed it on a different spoon already in the spaghetti pot.

"Do I stir now?" (Y/N) asked as Papyrus removed his hand from hers.

"Yes! It is up to you to ensure the pasta is properly cooked! I believe in you!"

Despite feeling rather unsure of herself, (Y/N) began stirring slowly at first, but picked up a bit of speed once she got more confident. The fact that Papyrus believed she could do this, despite her disability, put a heart felt, or should she say soul felt, smile on her face. It was surprising that the one who had the most faith in her was a monster. Everyone always said that monsters were terrible, vile creatures, but (Y/N) knew that was a lie. She had never met a single human who treated her as equally as Papyrus did.

Once the pasta was prepared, Papyrus took over again and helped (Y/N) add the sauce before finding forks and plates. The Skeleton placed the spaghetti on the plates and quickly placed them on the table before pulling out (Y/N)'s chair for her and assisting her in getting to it, all the while smiling like a child.

While they were eating, (Y/N) paused and lifted her head in Papyrus's direction. She couldn't see him, but she hoped she was talking towards him and not a wall, again.

"Papyrus? Why did you ask me to cook with you even though you know I can't see? You could have easily cooked by yourself while I sat on the sidelines." (Y/N) sheepishly fiddled with her fork as she held her breath, waiting for an answer.

Papyrus listed his skull to the left before replying, "I asked you to because... Well, this is kind of hard to say, but... You're my favorite person, besides Sans, and I want to do things that I enjoy with you because when you do them with me, they're five times as fun!"

(Y/N) felt her heart clench as she asked her next question, the answer to which she both hoped for and dreaded. "You don't care that I'm... blind?"

"(Y/N), why would you being blind have anything to do with it? You're you and I like everything about you! Just because you can't see how amazing I am doesn't mean you can't appreciate it!" He reached across the table and grabbed (Y/N)'s hand in his with a grin.

Stifling a giggle, (Y/N) gave his glove a squeeze. "Thank you, Papyrus. And you're right; I can't see you, but when you say stuff like that, I can envision a pretty great Skeleton."
