Yesterday, I found a modded Roxas vs Lingering Will cutscene where they edited the text of the Lingering Will to something like this due to Roxas looming like Ventus so Terra at first thought it's Ven only to be disappointed and concerned it's not leading him to attack Roxas in a rage.

One read of those edited texts made me think this is perfect for my AU since Sora is Ventus' reincarnation here, so Terra would attack Sora because of that, maybe with added context Terra inwardly believed Vanitas took Ventus' heart and body after reuniting with him and that's who he thought he was fighting. So out of sheer horror, Terra believed Xehanort won, and Vanitas showed up to gloat to Terra before he opened Kingdom Hearts.
