Description
Here are my thoughts on the animated films of 2016Summarized Thoughts:
Norm of the North- With abysmal animation, backward logical writing and a terrible cast of characters, Norm of the North is definitely one of the worst films I've ever seen. (0.5/10-Terrible)
Kung Fu Panda 3- Another great chapter to one of DreamWorks' best franchises (10/10-Amazing)
Zootopia- An amazing film with the best animation for Disney, memorable characters and amazing story that is accompanied by a strong message of the harmful effects of prejudices and stereotypes. (10/10-Amazing)
Ratchet and Clank- The nice animation of the movie is not enough to save this movie from lazily adapting the game's story into movie form and the sarcastic and snarky humor that fails miserably. (5.5/10-Okay)
The Angry Birds Movie- While it has been held back by some pointless and often disgusting scenes some of the great animation, some witty dialogue and a surprisingly good story transitioned from the minimal plot of the game make this one of the better video game adaptations that I have seen. (8/10-Good)
Finding Dory- The great story, amazing animation, great character development and memorable characters make this movie the best Pixar sequel since Toy Story 3 and an improvement to the original and prove that a comic relief can be a really good main character as long as you make the character interesting. (10/10-Amazing)
The Secret Life of Pets- The structure of the film might be a little too familiar but with stunning backgrounds, funny jokes and likable characters, The Secret Life of Pets made itself to be a film on its own despite some similarities to Toy Story. (8/10-Good)
Ice Age: Collision Course- With animation that is wasted for unfunny visual gags, humor that is below average, and a story that is cliched and unevenly paced, Ice Age: Collision Course has finally put the final nail in the coffin in the long-running series. (2.5/10-Bad)
The Little Prince- A story that is faithful to the original source material, breathtaking animation that utilizes computer animation with stop motion, and a moral that I really love to see in an animated film, The Little Prince has succeeded to become the breakout star of the year. (10/10-Amazing)
Sausage Party- An enjoyable flick that has amazing animation coming from a budget of $19 million, enjoyable characters and a thought-provoking story, but can't be recommended for everyone due to the film's style of humor and the surprising amount of violence. Either way, it is certainly an enjoyable film. (9/10-Great)
Kubo and The Two Strings- For bringing an amazing story and stop motion animation with lovable characters and a great moral, Laika has given me an amazing first impression with this movie. (10/10-Amazing)
The Wild Life- The movie promises a fun and colorful adventure ended up being uninteresting, slow-paced, and very stale that it ended up being the most boring film of the decade. (3.5/10-Mediocre)
Storks- Warner Animation Group delivered another fun flick full of greatly timed animation, humorous jokes and likable cast of characters. It is comedy fluff that I enjoyed a lot. (9/10-Great)
Equestria Girls: Legend of Everfree- While the writing is not the strongest, the nice animation, great character interactions and the great soundtrack has made The Legend of Everfree another great addition to the Equestria Girls franchise with opening doors for new lore about the story of the series. (9/10-Great)
Trolls- The film showcases a lot of colorful and creative animation, a story that has a charm of simplicity and a likable main cast of characters. It's not one of Dreamwork's best films but I can say that it deserved a lot more credit than it got. (9/10-Great)
Moana- The story may be a bit formulaic but with the help of clever writing, memorable characters and beautiful animation; Moana breathed some new life on a well known Disney formula that we are all familiar with. (10/10-Amazing)
Sing- This film delivered a simple story that is carried with a cast of likable characters and fun musical numbers that fans of music we'll get a lot of fun with. (9/10-Great)
Favorite Films: Zootopia, Finding Dory, Kubo and the Two Strings, Moana, Kung Fu Panda 3 and The Little Prince
Least Favorite Films: Norm of the North, Ice Age: Collision Course, and The Wild Life
Films that I considered underrated: Trolls, Storks, Sing and The Angry Birds Movie

4.3/5 is like 9.3/5, I just round it up to become 9/10.

That's because the system I use in scorecards is fixed in the .5 system, if it's not used in a scorecard like a recommendation level in my written reviews though it is not.

Or any award that has a connection with the animation because seriously the animators definitely need recognition for all their hard work because I still can't believe that the movie looks so good with a budget of $19 million.

That's because the animators were forced to work overtime for free.

I know and that's another reason why they deserve major credits because the things they go through just to make this movie look amazing is a pain.

Which is weird because he's normally so generous. It's jarring whenever he really lets a movie have it.

I hope Zootopia and Kubo can move beyond. I mean, achieving the same feat Beauty and the Beast, Up and Toy Story 3 did back in their days.
