Description
- chapter 1 to Sabaody Archipelago -Hoo boy.
In late spring this year I had this idea that I must draw all the female characters in One Piece. The project was unnecessarily huge but I didn't let common sense stop me, and here we are. I'll have to post this thing in parts because of dA file size limits and such, so further parts coming later. Bigger pictures can be found on my One Piece tumblr (or they're being posted every two days).
Please consult the One Piece Wiki if you don't know who someone is; I included the names for that.
Pose reference for the entire project from: SenshiStock , Aomori , katefox , pyjama-cake, One-With-No-Color , GALEKA-EKAGO , xghostwheelx , OrnellaArts , MadameNyx & DesignDoll program. Some brushes from Brusheezy, ObsidianDawn & fudgegraphics used.

You honestly never cease to amaze me in not just art but your diversity in your art. You don't hesitate when it comes to poses or patterns or rocketing off just simple designs, and I think that's what I love most about your art in general is your paying so much attention to detail. Amazing work, as usual, and I can't wait to see more of your stuff.

Haha, thanks!
But I really can't take credit of the poses, as almost every single one of them is copied from the references listed at the end of the description. In that sense this was a very educational project; after copying over 150 poses I feel like it might have become a little bit easier for me to draw poses without a reference. Or at least legs, arms are still a huge pain.

I think it's important to note references, but that doesn't make your art any less of your own work or creation. You can absolutely take credit of the poses because while you referenced them, you still took the time and dedication towards bringing them to life in your own style, and that's commendable in and of itself. References are used for learning and expanding your abilities, not as cheats or anything to discredit your work, you know what I mean? Anyway, don't be ashamed to take credit for recreating the poses like you did! Not everyone can do references justice, and not a lot of people use them so much as trace them, so the fact that you learn from them highlights specifically what they're for as part of the art community.

For me using reference always feels a little like cheating though; I like it if I can call some drawing completely my own work. But since the results are always better if I use a reference I'm glad if I can find one that's suitable for whatever subject I'm drawing, and hopefully some day I'll be able to draw better on my own too.
