Description
For various reasons I've thought about redesigning some of the the pokemon princesses, and here they are!A lot of people call my designs gym leaders and I don't exactly like that, since I'm trying to design something that could be the female player character instead. If I was aiming at the "gym leader" look I would have a completely different approach (for example, Ariel would have a swimsuit etc.) But quite frankly it's probably my own fault, without bags they possibly didn't remind the player characters at all (?). But this time they have bags so please don't call them gym leaders. Also, please comment something about the picture and not just list what pokemon you want them to have.
More thoughts on the characters on my Website , in "Drawings" -> "Pokemon style characters".
Not planning redesigns for the other characters. Also, I don't need suggestions or requests on who I should draw; I can decide that on my own.

Rapunzel, from Tangled

Rapunzel definitely looks better with her hair in a braid. The only things that could be improved upon in the future would be Snow White's huge bow in her hair. It's really distracting and it would probably look better if it was on the back of her head or smaller. Cinderella's hair looks really obvious and dated, and would possibly look better if it was just a bun on top of her head. But it's your artwork, and you can decide whatever goes. I love all of your work!

Awesome work, I think you've weeded out most of the flaws the firsts drafts had. And they do look more like player characters now. In fact, if Pokemon and Disney made a cross over I doubt they'd look much different then this; you'd probably run into these girls on your quest and go against the villains as Gym Leaders (or as actual Villains).
Red was most defanetly the right choice for Snow's bag since she occasional wore a red cape, and the pocket detail is really cute.
Cinderella looks so much better, the skirt is a huge improvement and the hoody is cute and subtle. Not that it helps now, but you could have used her new hair style from Sofia the First (Which will never be seen in my house because just the commercials make my soul weep) The bag is quite good, but you're right about the colors; they could use some tweaking but work well enough with the outfit.
Aurora's hat is...interesting, but the the skirt and shirt are much, much better. It might have been fun to use blue, green, and pink since through the whole movie her dress kept changing colors (Frankly, I like it better in blue or green, pink doesn't suit such a calm character.) The bag suits it's purpose, not all player characters have interesting bags (doesn't one of them just carry an all yellow duffle bag?) but the ball/rose design is really cute and really save it. Actually, that might have been cute to put on the hat too...or not.
Throwing Ariel's scarf out was a good call, it looks alot better. I miss the green shorts too, but the white works quite well. The socks are quite fun, but the shoes...maybe they could have been just light green with no design. The V looks a bit akward. On it's own the bag doesn't really work, but it works perfactly with the whole design, even the shells are cute. Probably one of my favortie bags.
I've always liked Belle's design too, but the bag get's a bit lost. So much blue and White. Not all player charecters have bags that match their outfit, so maybe that would have been a good choice with this. On it's own the bag is quite good, and giveing her such a vercitile design is good, but maybe other colors would have worked better. Still, that's only my opinion.
In some ways I liked Jasmine's first design better, but it never would have worked with the bag. This one balances out nicely. The bag is quite cute and poofy, and the button designs are cute, but I've had soft bags and they can be very uncomfortable. A hidden structur is probably needed, or this could be another exsample of a not so matching bag being needed.
Pocahontas' design was always good, but the bag puts it over. This is also a much better drawing--good work--and she really does look like she's about to head out on an adventure.
Mulan's new design had it's good points...mostly the pant. The pants are really cute, but the shoes and shirt on the previous one were better. On the other hand the old shirt wouldn't have worked with the bag...I can see why you have such a problem. On it's own the bag is cute, but not very Mulan. But, putting it with the whole fit works...Mulan, why are you such a problem?
Hands down, I like Tiana's new design better. Let's be real here, a hard worker like her would rather be in practical cloths over frilly dress (But in some ways I like the old one too). A scarf instead of a belt could have worked too, but I sort of like the belt-thing. The hat is really cute and it's design kind of makes up for the boreing shirt. Unfortunatly, it looks more like somthing you'd wear in real life then in the poke world. Maybe it would have been a deep V with under shirt, to emulate the dress' bodice, but that might not have helped. The bag is good, it works, but it probably should have been a pale yellow instead of white. Also, really like the knee detail, it's saves the pants.
I love Charlotte's pose, she will always be one of my favorite charcters from that movie. I think the bag is the most impractical thing a poke-trainer could ever have, so it suits her perfactly. And it's perfact the way it is, because if you made any girlier then it'd distract from the outfit and that would be terrible. This is such a great outfit and the bag compliments it instead of taeing away. It's great balance and probably one of the best of the whole set.
I really like the changes you've made to Rapunzel...except for the hat. I really liked the old hat, it was cute, but she's an odd girl so she might be carrying both and will randomly switch them for no apparent reason (That thought makes me way too happy.) The hair works alot better. I'll admit the sleeves threw me for a second; I thought you'd lost your mind and given her long gloves. But the sleeves drasticly improve the design. The bag...is pretty bad. This is another one that didn't need to match. she could be carrying the satchil, or somethng frying pan-like, or something with the Kingdom's sun symbol on it...or a thousand other things that might have worked. But, if I really think about it, the biggest problem with the bag is the pink: it's too bright and too much of it.
Merida's out fit is always quite good. The bag works in a certain way, but it could better. Changing the belt out for a deep brown hit bag (like her quiver) might have been a good idea, or modeling the strap after her bow. Still, there are worse things you could have done with it, and it doesn't detract from the outfit which the most important thing.
Over all, I think Vanellope was one of the most sucessful translations. All the elements balance out well, she's recognizable, and functional. The bag on it's oown reminds me of somthing I'd find in Hot Topic, but it really pulls the whole design togeather. If she were in a game I wouldn't hesitate to pick her for my charecter, she'd be lots of fun.
Yep, I like Anna's old design alot better, but the world just turns however it wants. Still, it works well enough and is well balanced. Though, supriseingly I'm not a big fan of the bag strap, it distracts from the outfit a little too much.
Over all, wonderful work, great art, and a wonderful show of your injenuety and imagination. Always glad to see your work.

As I was comparing this redesign to old ones, I made note of some comments, most of which I see here, although Cat-Of-Energy went into much more detail than I was planning to!

They tend to. While any kind of positive comment is appreciated, most people prefer honest assessments that praise you but also help you ferret out flaws you can then avoid in your next work, so long as you phrase it right. Never be too forceful or blunt, or you're just bashing them. Don't be afraid to write long comments if you need them to express everything you want to say.
...Sorry, that sounded like a lecture. I'm taking a business communication class and it seems to be affecting me. Which is worrisome since I've only had 3 classes thus far.

Thanks for the long comment, they're really rewarding to get.
The point about Snow White's cape almost makes me smarter than I am. Apparently I got super lucky with the colours, I didn't even remember she had a cape.

Your welcome, I do so enjoy writeing meaningful comments.
Well, I wouldn't remember eather except my mom, sister, and I recently rewatched it for the play we're directing at the High school. We're doing a gender bended version of it called "Joe White and the Seven Dwarfettes". It's going to be hysterical.
