Description
Some speedpainting practice I did. I wasn't sure about adding more details, but I'll probably edit this pic more on another layer so I don't risk losing any progress. This is a quirky species of jellyfish that developed an extremely potent nervous system with psychic abilities. This allows it to thrive in water and dry land by drawing the moisture from the air with its mind. The psydaria can appear to be swimming in the air with its telekinetic powers but doesn't typically stray that far from water. The psydaria vary in size and can be as small as a nickel to as large as a truck. Fortunately, the larger psydaria don't stray as far from water as the smaller ones.
This makes for the second jellyfish-like monster I did that was also for speedpaint practice!

Nice. Mind if I borrow it for my character in a play-by-post RPG? Because this is pretty much exactly how I imagined him - a floating brain, encapsulated in jelly, surrounded by a handful of tentacles.

Oh, thanks. I don't mind if you use it as long as you credit me for the design here.

The PBP fell through, though I'm still fleshing out the backstory I came up with. Mostly because of the sheer lulz.
Imagine; shy teenage boy-turned-tentacle monster (sort of), stranded on a small, tropical island, together with a cheerleading team. He's about as likely to molest them as the average jock is to dress up in a pink tutu and sing "I'm a little teapot", but then the girls don't know that.
Yet.
No, there's no sex involved, beyond the mandatory "ecchi" moments of mistakes, tripping over one-another, and general wackiness. And yes, they get rescued, before they decide to attempt any "re-population". Of course, the rescue might involve one or more teams of Marines, after an actual "tentacle monster" was spotted chasing the missing cheerleaders around the beach (they were playing tag... Or something - I'm still working on it)...
Hilarity ensues. And if the girls try to defend their "attacker", well, Stockholm Syndrome. Or Mind Control; same difference, really.

It helps to experiment with the different types of layers. I used a mixture of overlay and some luck to get the colors to come out this way.
