Description
Flight of Dragons fanart! Also, fanart for the book Flight of Dragons, since rib-wings are from that (see below).I love all of these things:
- Flight of Dragons (film): One of the few films starring dragons to stick to a more medieval dragon design! Much as I like dragons, it is fun to see them star in a film where they're definitely still monstrous rather than big, fish-eating dogs with wings.
- The Dragon and the George (book): Most of the plot for the FoD film, it's about a guy being transported to a fantasy world and ending up with the body of a dragon.
- Flight of Dragons (book): An attempt to argue that dragons could have been a real animal. His theoretical dragons have "wings" like that of gliding lizards (adapted ribs) which behave like rudders when the dragon inflates with hydrogen gas. Since hydrogen is explosive, the dragons release it in controlled spurts of flame.
All dragons are good dragons (though I struggle to put wyverns in the same category, but they're okay now).

I actually bought a copy of this movie on DVD from Amazon a few years ago.
Was disappointed with the transfer, it looks like someone's interlaced digital rip of an old VHS, put through a 1990s encoder.

It was disappointing. I happen to really enjoy the richly-detailed style of the Rankin-Bass animation like Flight of Dragons and The Hobbit.

I hope it wasn't one of those cheap "remastering" attempts that can completely mess up certain art styles such as Disney's Sword in the Stone (there was an outcry over the Bluray version for that reason).
I don't know why DVD companies aren't taking quality seriously when piracy's so much more convenient.
