One would hope so -- and after it became clear that Discord didn't actually need it to get better, there was no reason not to replant it.

Okay, somethings been bugging me ever since that episode. In nearly every other episode where a mythical monster shows up, the creature had been grecian in origin. But now this thing shows up, and he appears to be more mayan. What exactly is the Tatzlwurm?

HareTrinity In reply to stiffbonez [2014-02-09 19:27:06 +0000 UTC]
Either a misspelling or variant of "Tatzelwurm" of alpine mythology. It's a clawed/jumping worm-creature that often has the upper torso of a cat and at least some feet.
"Ahuizotl" was clearly based on the ahuizotl of Aztec myth, plus a few others (cockatrice, changeling, windigos/wendigos) aren't Greek... Overall, I think the show's giving us a pretty good balance of mythical creatures from around the world, as well as original beasties!

Tatzelwurm is an old German word for dragon used for example in the Nibelungenlied

I dont know about the Tatzlwurm but its not the first creature to appear that isnt related to grecian mythology.
Ahuizotl, the rival of Daring Do, for example is inspired by a mythical monster created by the Aztec's.

Yep. Β And manticore is a Persian legend. Β Cockatrice was first mentioned in 12th century English literature. Β They draw from all over.
Like, Diamond Dogs are from 1970s England, though in their original incarnation were MUCH more bizarre looking: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Diaβ¦ Β
