It didn't win the competition, but I'm still proud of it!

Some stuff on the process:
The panel of the deer working ("taktaktak") is when I knew I'd found the "right" submission idea
Yellow is repeatedly used to represent danger, including implying headlights on page 1 (in the title and the panel break around the "screech" panel) and page 3 (the "sun")
Panel one has said "screech" panel, on the line below, and a jagged panel break line that goes through the deer
Page 2's first two panel are somewhat tyre shaped, with the oozing panels implying bad things
Page 2's at-home panel was a bit of a pain and didn't feel nearly cramped enough until, happily, the speech bubbles fixed it!
Page 2 echoes panel 1's jagged-break panels with only half of the deer shown in front of the tent
Page 3 has the image of the deer jumping in front of the yellow "sun" in a "deers crossing" sign pose
Page 3 and 4 depict the boss of Time Wasters Inc, which I'm very happy with the design of! Partly I just wanted to show my happy little deer character wasn't just an excuse to avoid drawing hands, but I wanted the deer's voice being visually disregarded by having the boss and the its words overlaying things that it doesn't consider important
The only hint I could find for the competition was "emotional but not sentimental" and I feel I achieved that while also making use of the art form of comics. Could be neater, but I think its messiness arguably serves the narrative.

Hope you enjoyed the experience of reading it even though it's sad!
