He wanted Amy and Marine swimming underwater in scuba gear. Originally, Coco Bandicoot was supposed to be in Marine's spot like the original inspiration, but I've already drawn her. Twice. So the rascally sailor raccoon takes her place.
To make it not look like a full copy of the original drawing, I added a treasure chest, rocks, and a bonus scene with Blaze on the ship, waiting for the girls to return back up to the surface. She would come, but you know... cats hate being in water. Stereotypical stuff.
