If you start on the 2003 anime first, then you can watch the first episode of the 2009 one and skip to about episode 16. You see, the one in '03 caught up with the manga, so it had lots of filler and alternative character interpretations. Hiromu Arakawa actually enjoyed the direction the studio went. By the time the '09 anime ended, the manga was finishing up, so both ended around the same time.
Either series should hopefully entertain you. Hope you get to them soon.

Hey! could you tell me exactly what episode from 2003 started to stray from the Manga storyline? I want to basically watch everything that was on the manga, but brotherhood skipped the chapters (mentioned at least) that was already in the first anime.....

Skip this chunk for the details... I would still recommend watching all of it, especially since it sounds like you've watched Brotherhood. The episodes that are completely separate from the manga have some of the best stories to the point where some fans who have seen both versions prefer the former for its unique take. (I'm not one of them, but my friends are quite boisterous about it.)
To answer in a roundabout way:
The first two episodes follow the manga. The story deviates from the manga at the third episode, but it's not unique in story. Episode four is original, but heartrendingly good. Episode 5 is close to the manga with slight alterations. Episode 6 is has more alterations than the manga. Episode 7 "concludes" episode 6 and has neat fanart, heh. Episode 8 is close to the manga. Episode 9 also follows the manga, but concludes an "arc" of the brothers' lives in the past as well (so it's chronologically out of order). Episode 10 is original. Episode 11 and 12 actually follow the first light novel (so it doesn't follow the manga). Episode 13 actually comes from bonus material from the manga, so the anime puts this in a canonical timeline, fleshed out. Episode 14 is a fleshed out episode 6 of FMA, meaning it's close to the manga. Episode 15 is a fleshed out episode 5 of FMA
, meaning it's close to the manga. Episode 16 fleshes out episode 6 of FMA
as well. Episode 17 is close to the manga. Episode 18 takes liberties from the manga. Episode 19 follows the manga. Episode 20 follows the manga, but is somewhat the conclusion to episode 8 in this anime. Episode 21 is inspired by the manga. Episode 22 is inspired by the manga. Episode 23 is inspired by the manga. Episode 24 is inspired by the manga. Episode 25 is inspired by the manga. Episode 26 is inspired by the manga, but with different limbs. Episode 27 is inspired by the manga, but with a longer beat down. Episode 28 is inspired by the manga, but this is where the deviation rears its head.
Episode 29 onward is when the anime definitely has more unique story elements compared to the manga.
I would still suggest to watch the whole thing. The Conqueror of Shamballa is a movie worth watching, but without getting into the latter half of the first anime, it gets into too many spoilers and twists.
Oh yeah, you might as well read the manga if you want a concise story. Because the '03 series overtook the manga, there are tons of filler and alternate character interpretations everywhere. It's a good series if you want some stories fleshed out.

It only skipped some that was in the original that didn't happen in the manga.

Ok first of all, I have a headache, so I can't think straight. As such, I wasn't able to make any sense of that. Secondly, it'll likely be years before I get to it, cause I tend to go entire months between watching animes. And as I said, I have about 25 on my list. Including. Black Rock shooter, Lucky star, code geass season 3, highschool DxD season 3, Gun Gale Online, FREAKIN ATTACK ON TITAN! Just to name a few. A FEW!

I'm not sure if I should clarify or not, since you can come back and look at the comment again when you're feeling better.
Now that I know you go months at a time, I can see why this would be such a daunting task. Most of what you have listed are also worthy of your attention, too. (I'm only saying most because of my own experiences watching them, but I don't want to let that influence you)
I hope I didn't come off as antagonistic. I just wanted to make sure the overlap in story doesn't put you off on the second series. Have a good watching binge.

I'm feeling better now, but i'd appreciate some clarrifaction, I do have dumb moments as well
Yeeeeah, it tends to get a bit overwhelming when people are saying. "Watch this. Watch that." And i'm just like. "I HAVE SO MANY!" Plus the going months at a time between then is what I do when i'm not doing anything else. Now days i've got Stories to write here on DA, games that I haven't played yet, and genearl life stuff as well.
Nah, it takes a lot to tick me off ... usualy, you were just giving your opinion, which is fine. Lol.

Hmm... What should I explain better?
My main point was that after watching the 2003 anime, you can -pretty- much skip episodes 2-15 of the 2009 anime. They tell pretty much the same story as the first half of the 2003 version, but it's in the proper order of the manga. I love the series very much, but if someone is on a schedule, then it won't hurt to skip a few episodes. Those 14 episodes also feel "rushed" in comparison after you watch the first series.

Oh. Nah, i'll just watch em all. My schedual's not that tight. Sure i've got a lot to do, but it mostly amounts to laziness. Besides, I go months between animes, not episodes. When I sit down to watch an anime, I stick through it till the end in one sitting.

You should skip a lot of what you mentioned since FMA is 20 times better than some like Lucky Star and BRS.

I will decide what I like my friend, and I have already watched over half of BRS, and enjoyed it greatly. I am not as critical about what I like and do not like in anime as some people are. Just about anything suits me fine. So, I will watch what I want to watch.
