Description chasing your shadow
...

EDIT: Thank You for the Daily Deviation

PS cs5 +DAZ and a bit of Alchemy.

Not everything looks good >_< I'm still bad with lighting and overall story telling. This time I've decided to draw everything from scratch (the pose was made in 3d) and then at the very end reinforce it with textures. I like this workflow more than pure photobash.  Aaaaand i'm still waiting for my payday to get dat new wacom Q.Q

I was thinking about doing adoptables o.o but would it work with my style too?

Loving this!!

The hand that's controlling the energy ball (?) is a bit too high (looks a bit dislocated) but the values are on point imo. I really like the world around her. Interested to see more illustrations from her world.

Thank You! I'm quite new with 3d. It's helpful and makes life easier ^-^ Sometimes it feels like a cheat so I try do draw as much as I can in my sketchbook

well, i don't think it's a cheat if you make and develop your own 3d from your sketch to let it become a painting ^_^ if it makes your life easier it's a perfect way..many artists use this technique i wish i'd be better with 3d aswell, perspective is always the evil for me

Ooooh, how beautiful! That outfit is so gorgeous. I love the designs in the white silk (it looks like silk?) and the overall design of the outfit. Great pose and motion, and great hair!

As for adoptables, hmmm... interesting. All I ever see are anime so, since you reference your style, I assume you wouldn't go that route and it would be interesting to see what yours look like. I am sure they would be so pretty. Why not do a test run?

Well, to be honest, I'm having a hard time understanding the idea for the story itself too.  On one hand, the title really does go well with this, but then the 'chasing your own shadow' bit doesn't seem to be conveyed in the image.  Concerning lighting, yes, it does look like most the lighting is the same, but hey!  Besides these things, I mean, really....  this is great!  Lol  I really love the pose and the framing effect created by the rubble in the background.  The falling debris, and how she floats in the air with the airy look and texture to her swirling hair, it all looks nice, however, on the flip-side, it may have looked better if her arm was extended rather than bent like that.  Plus, her arm looks kind of short.  When you have her arm bent, taking into mind the framing effect you created, you end up actually making her look cramped inside a tiny space.  It kinda ends up feeling claustrophobic.  Her arm just looks unrealistic, and perhaps it doesn't need to be fully extended outward like the other, but just a slight bit more of a reaching out motion and fixing the length might make all the difference.

About you doing adoptables, I think if you want to do this, you should go for it!  Honestly, it should work with your style.  I've seen adopts in many different styles, including semi-realism and realism.  My only bit of advice is to probably keep minimum background (either white or gradient) and have a good sized watermark (at least until purchased).  With your skill and quality level, your adopts should sell for a pretty high price, but if you don't add a large enough watermark, people might just snatch up your design.  Oh, and auction might be the best way to go about selling your adopts if you decide to do so.  Ahh... I hope I don't sound out of place offering advice, but either way, I hope I helped.    And also, I'm definitely interested in seeing what kind of adopts you can come up with, personally

Thanks for the help!

Indeed the arm is short. I haven't notice it before probably because I was fixing myself to much into tiny details. I'm gonna fix it today xD  I've got a version with stretched hand but the composition looked to plain for me ~-~ I really make more mistakes when I go in the details.
The titles are more for myself and ain't related to the paintings. It's more a remainder for me about what I was thinking during the painting process (yush, I'm weird)

I really appreciate your help with adoptable *-* It was just a thought but now I really would like to try.

IzzyMarrie In reply to Harpiya [2014-10-21 14:27:21 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome  ^_^  Well, I myself write rather than draw, and so I can say that focusing on tiny details is also a problem from a writer's perspective too.  Lol  Sometimes, I look at something I wrote a day or two later and am completely dissatisfied because I focused to much on descriptions and ended up making it too muddled.  Or someone else reads what I write and notices tiny little things I didn't notice when I first wrote it.  Also, maybe in the version with the stretched out hand, it was too stretched out.  Maybe if you do a quick sketch on paper with just the basic shapes of the background behind her, then quickly sketch her, you can experiment with how stretched out (or not) you want her arm to be, therefore getting a better idea on how to fix composition.  It might help with how long you might want to have her arm if you do decide to go back and fix it.  -shrugs-  Also, if the titles are to remind you of your inspiration or thought process in general when you were painting, it's not exactly weird.  It's personal for you.  Also, you're welcome for the help on the adoptables, and good luck!

Very nice! The pose is spot on and the textures look fantastic! I'm just starting to get into photobashing and find that, with my style at least, building everything up and adding texture in the end seems to work the best.

you're work is definitely an inspiration for me!
