Wolf had been wrong about how non-fatal chess could be. Every wrong move from him, every right move from his opponents, and the board lit up. It had started as a slight shock, but rapidly became significantly more painful. Soon it would be deadly.

He looked at the pieces. He just needed one good move, but it was hard to think. He was aware of the clock ticking down, meaning he had to make a move soon. Gritting his teeth, he reached for the next chess figure...
