Description
I guess I couldn't bring myself to draw feet yesterday. Rob Liefeld would be proud. And... as you can see... I still can't draw womenz. :C I think her arm and crotch area look kinda weird. It's Superfam's very own Power Girl, yaaaay! But I'm gonna let you know now that this is in no way my final rendition of her outfit. I drew this without a lot of references or research into the character herself (which I believe is always important when you're going to tackle a costume reinvention).
What I do insist on keeping, however, is the forever infamous "boob window", which I've always felt was more of an anti-shield than simply fan service, if you can follow my reasoning. Due to being separated from her home dimension, forming a wedge between her and the Super family, and upon being judged even by the scientific instruments at the Fortress of Solitude as a non-native Kryptonian, she's been left with a hole in her center. Aaaannnd with keeping that in mind, I wish I had shaped the hole like a shield, but I kinda wanted to put my P-shaped hole idea out there before I forgot about it. P: Even if I might not like it very much.
Thank you for taking a look. Sure hope I can bring myself to draw more Superfam stuff in the future.

But yeah this is a nice redesign.

Gotta admit, I did not see the "P" at first, but the more I look at it, the better it looks. Β You've kept the (.)(.) window, which is really crucial to Power Girl's identity.
Beautiful artwork overall, stop being so hard on yourself , the arms and crotch area look wonderful!
And yes, in spite of DC, in my heart says there is only one true Power Girl and her name is Karen Starr aka Kara Zor-L, and my friend has designated her "Kara Ra", "Ra" being the Kryptonian sun. Β I will not accept the newly minted by DC "Powergirl", who was Karen Starr's African-American scientist-assistant who has acquired super power. Β Why DC insists on doing this I fail to understand.

Now the problem I have with the new Power Girl is the fact that it feels inclusive for the sake of being inclusive and nothing else. Here's my question, DC. Why, oh WHY, can't we get new superheroes? You know, ones that aren't tied to big name heroes - ones that can stand on their own. I am all for introducing more diverse characters, but not if they're just gonna be replacements for other heroes. Ya know? :/
Thank you so much for the encouragement. Hope to revisit Ms. Starr soon. :]

My sentiments exactly! Β Leave the well known heroes alone, they have a following, create new stories for them and stop ret-conning them out of existence.
And most of all, knock off the "politically correct" horseshit of substituting ehtnic minorities for the established heroes. Β Stop pandering to the whiners (mostly flat-breasted women!) and leave our busty heroines alone, FFS!

Can we not call people who happen to disagree with you flat-chested women?Β

It's a neat design, it feels like a mix of the traditional aesthetics of the classic costume with the sort-of idea of her first New 52 costume:Β infinitecomix.com/wp-content/uβ¦
As for your reasoning of the boob window, I can definitely see that's why it fits with her as a design, why we as artists/designers would want to keep it, but it feels didactic to have her say it. I think if she was asked why she has the cut-off for her cleavage, she would say, "I'm proud of my breasts, and I like showing them off. If you have a problem with that, grow up."
Anyway, looking forward to your next designs.

Oh, certainly. I agree that she would say something like that. I just imagine that the "hole in her center" thing is something more subconscious, or perhaps a symbolic notion only meant for the reader to deduce.Β
Thank you muchly for your feedback. Looking forward to seeing you around. ;]

I like it. It is more of a suit than a leotard now but still like the old part of the costume remaining her unique Superfamily cape her blue and white look, the gloves and boots and of course the ever famous boob window.
I look forward to your awesome art being applied to Superfam characters and stuff.

Interesting rendition. Still not a fan of the boob window, though.

That's cool, I understand your reasoning. I've always tended to see past it, but that's probably because I'm straight as a rail and don't care. xD

I guess I just never understood why a character who got so offended whenever someone stares at her decides to wear a boob window, anyway.
