Hi there, first off, let me just say that this is an amazing piece you've done! I really love the effects that you've made, it really made Venom "pop" out a bit! 
I also wanted to point out that Venom's tongue is wicked!! I like how you added the folds/wrinkles at the bottom to give it more definition, that was really nice and I'll try to learn from that to make my next Venom even better. ^^
Keep up the great work man, I look forward to seeing more art from you!

Bloody hell, I think you win biggest comment on any of my pics! Yeah, sorry, the Venom itself was drawn manually with pencil crayons, pens and feltips; its just so heavily edited, digitally, that I put it in the digital category, which was probably not my best call (do DeviantArt have a hybrid category?).
I'm afraid I'm alongside you on the quest of digital painting secrets, you probably know more about it than I. I have been trying to teach myself how to digitally paint, but it's going very slow lol. The digital effects I've used here are mostly for photographs, like blurring, manipulating the shapes of objects and "plastic wrap" (shiny bits on his tongue & teeth). In the description there's a link to the original, less edited, version of this pic. I hope anything I've said helps. if you've got any more questions, just ask.

That is the fattest tongue I've ever seen come out of Venom's mouth. Anyway, I love how he looks more alien here. He kind of looks like he has a snout too. I like that.

Haha! I like to think I was trying to make him look more "realistic". Whatever that means when drawing a symbiotic alien attached to a man, which looks like a cross between a tyrannosaurus rex and an orca whale. Glad you think the result is a pleasing one though lol.
