I wanted a pic about the great Sprague deCamp himself, but none here.So I selected this.
Anyway, I wish to discourse briefly about his work on religion. He did an extensive book on fundamentalism, esp. the tyrannical Southern variety, focusing on the infamous Scopes frial.
I am an evolutionist, and since 2015, an atheist. I do believe in the afterlife, and am turned off by the idea of utter nonexistence (eternal uncocsciousness) at death.My mind just slides off it. Still,that is preferable to eternal torture in hell for even just one sin. But I segued into atheism due to the arrogance and insolence of tract writers and "one true churches".
It's because people do not KILL pastors and founders of new "One True Churches" that these heresies flourish. We used to burn heretics at the stake, and kept their numbers down. Now they are all over the place !
Considering that at least one church forbids any medical treatment,(infant mortality is much higher than elsewhere) it's urgent that we get government control of religion !
