Description Well here is another addition to the sun collection. So a little story behind this one. I was sitting in my studio last week listing to Poets of the Fall, and I had a bunch of scrap metal sitting in front of me that I didn't know what to do with. I had flawed dreamcatcher medallion that I decided not to drill holes in, several brass discs that were left over from making rings for another piece, and a handful of copper wires that were too short for bracelets.

Then the song "locking up the sun" came on and I was bludgeoned in the face with inspiration! It's amazing how music can be one of the most important tools in your toolbox.

Thank you Poets of the Fall for your sexy man voices

This is, by far, my favorite of all your jewelry work. I love that the central pendant is suspended, rather than drilled. The whole thing makes me think of antique dive helmets and lost histories. It's really awe-inspiring.

Hey great stuff! Have you ever been interested in doing steampunk designs? This piece just reminded me of something of that nature. Keep on posting

I would never have put song to pendant without the title, but it looks great, so I'd say to listen to them more. (Well, that and I like them too, so more is good.)

haha yeah the pendent really does not not convey the story of the song at all, it was just the fact the lyrics "they're locking up the sun" got stuck in my head and kept repeating over and over again. But yes I do not listen to them near enough. Great band.

Wow. Amazingly well conceived. In awe of the textures, shapes, and colors. Being copper, how well do your pieces age?

First favorite here on DA for me, by the way.

Thank you very much I am glad that you like it. I actually coat the copper with a thin layer of acrylic from Rio grande to keep it from tarnishing. The finish does not alter the color or change the feel of the metal. I wear my pieces everyday and so far none of them have tarnished, it takes a little while for the coating to rub off.

Also thank you for the Fave, I am quite honored.

Have you tried Permalac? I use it on my copper, brass and bronze works. It is really tough stuff and has a nice matt finish. Like you work.

I have not tried Permalac, I will definitely have to look into it. Thank you!
