Oh look, a pony comic in which Lyra is obsessed with hands. Haven't seen that before.Hey, it's a good joke! I don't recall seeing one where Lyra was confused how some other pony was gripping something, anyway. Besides, everyone likes a little Lyra.

Personal theory: I think Ponies (ie in FIM) forehooves are flexible enough to grip stuff. To get the idea, wear a tight oven mitt and keep your hand and thumb in a claw shape when you grip.
Perhaps Lyra is handicapped and her forehooves are stiff instead of flexible....

It should still be pretty hard to manipulate, though! Try making a fist, and then put it through a mug/stein and try to operate it properly. It's pretty dang difficult.
