In Dragon Quest, Spike got a message from princess Celestia. They never read it, because at the time Twilight and her friends were in dragon-costume.
They are implying that THAT LETTER which they never read, was the notification Twilight would have received regarding her brother's engagement xD

And why ?
Everyone in this episode acted totally out of character, and I hate Shinning Armor screwing up so much and not even saying sorry.
So instead of " loved him insulting her ", try to remember how everyone hurt and disappoint Twilight and not even said sorry for it ( only Applejack did, but it was rather small sorry compared to how much they hurt her ).

Like they didn't have the right to be upset at the scene she cause. Not to the degree that they'd renounce their friendship with her but that they were disappointed at her giving into her accumulating frustration. I'd be discomforted at the very least myself.

First off, Twilight tried to warn them that something is wrong like 2-3 times and they ignored it.
Second, they knew Twilight well, even if she freak out sometime, they should already learn that ignoring Twilight when she do that is the worse think they can do ( Lesson Zero ),
They should know that Twilight is not selfish to just act like spoiled brat for no reason.
Celestia had no right to believe that Twilight is so stupid to mistake head-ache killing spell with brainwashing spell, more or less checking do what she say is true, total lack of trust to most faithful student.
And finally, Twilight brother left Twilight broken, a good friends would cheer up her friends even if they though she was wrong, not kick her up even more.

That's quite clever! I wish the series would tie itself up between episodes this way. Don't get me wrong I enjoy the no-arc slice-of-life style, but I love so much more when they connect everything together!

Yeah, the consistency between episodes (e.g. Pinkie Sense, Pinkie Promise, Rainbow reading Daring Do) really does make it feel like a continuous story. Still, gotta love the randomness you get from some of the slice-of-life antics!
