One of five images created around the subject of phychological disorders. This image deals with self injury. Before this project I new very little about the subject, but after talking to a number of people who self harmed, I learned that although by no means an answer to problems, self harming was a possitive thing to the sufferer -in that it helped them deal with what ever they were going through. One girl described to me how she used to self harm, because she couldnt deal with the emotional pain, she gave herself a physical wound she could tend to.Related content

that is very true, self harm for me is a means of release, dealing with my problems, and helping me to keep going.
I do it because i cant understand or deal with emotional pain, but physical pain makes sense to me. It reminds me that I'm alive.

how insightful on your part. the depiction of the wonderful release that SI'ers feel is amazing. when I've hurt myself in the past it has made me feel alive when the only thing I felt was nothing/empty/dead.

I love how you put something more into this piece than a girl cutting up her arms. But the visual of the actual cutting could be considered tiggering for some people. There is real deapth here. It's a beautiful pice. Thanks for posting it.
