Description I think that mindset is complete and utter bullshit. In the end, who's not going to Hell?

You're supposed to be nice and kind, like they told you to be, right? Not spiteful little bitches that say everyone is going to hell for not thinking like you. Hell doesn't even exist and if it does, then I'd rather hang out with Lucifer than god.

What else should I add to this, guys?

EDIT: People who can't read: nowhere did I state this came from the Bible and nowhere did I state that all religious people think this way. You silly, illiterate people. c:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but are you saying there are only three religions total? Or... what?
And who are you to tell people they can't have an opinion? It's your opinion that it's not smart. So why do you get to have an opinion and this person doesn't? Quite the hypocrite you are.

kindly read my last comment again about that point; I said "sometimes, you have to realize that giving an opinon on some rule people follow is not smart" because that may cause conflict, which is already happening (and you sadly fall for it too) ... a calm convencsation with a group of people who are well aware of the idea can lead to an actual result, regardless if the parties agree on the other's opinion or not... its sharing ideas and information not forcing it

Uh, where on earth in the bible does it say you go to hell if you practice safe sex with a contraception, swear, masturbate, have sex before marriage, or watch porn? Exactly; it doesn't! If it's not there, then it's not true. Now that doesn't mean God likes when we do things like have sex before marriage, or go gay, but think about it; if it was your child, would you disown them? I doubt it. God wouldn't disown us either.
It's our choice to believe Jesus is the son of the one true God, and our choice to believe what He died for. God is a good god all the time, and I know that my God isn't what He's made out to be by so many people. He's a loving Daddy who just wants all His kids to love Him like He loves us.

I'm Christian, but I masturbate, watch porn, believe gay people should have the same American rights I do, have a sick and kinky mind, and I swear. Does that mean I'm going to hell? No. It means I'm human, which is what God created me to be.

Leviticus 20:13 - If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

At almost every point in the Bible where marriage is mentioned, it is between a man and a virgin woman. Pornography, and masturbation would be considered adultery.

The Contraception one is a reference to the general attitude of Christian Republicans right now that contraception is against God and should be illegal (basically).

iverie In reply to Freakin-Ninja [2012-03-28 07:40:09 +0000 UTC]

Leviticus is in the Old Testament, but when Jesus died, He said we were no longer under the Law, and the Law is the Old Testament. Yes, it's wrong, but God doesn't strike them down, because he took that sin away so it's not on their head, it's on his head.
Back in the day, mankind had to offer a sacrifice to forgive their sins. Now, we can just ask.

iverie In reply to Freakin-Ninja [2012-03-28 08:34:28 +0000 UTC]

No, it does, but it is more like guidelines in a lot of ways. Think about it; do we still put prostitutes to death? Do we force women to marry their rapists? Is it a sin to eat pork? No.

Do we deny evolution?

Yup.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

iverie In reply to Freakin-Ninja [2012-03-28 21:40:35 +0000 UTC]

To an extent.

Macro evolution is wrong; we didn't evolve from monkeys, and the world is not billions and billions of years old. Charles Darwin himself even said it was all just a "what-if" theory, and near the end of his life he was sorry he created it.

Micro evolution however is right; the characteristics of a species can change to fit the environment over the course of a generation or two as long as the change is within the species own natural characteristics. Ergo; a bird's beak can change in size to be able to eat the seeds the land is providing, but that same bird can't suddenly grow gills, because it's outside what their species will allow.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Freakin-Ninja In reply to iverie [2012-03-29 01:35:06 +0000 UTC]

Okay, obviously you've been given some bad information.

Over time, the changes in a species through Micro-Evolution (mutations in DNA) amass to the point that the DNA of the species is different enough that it cannot reproduce with an individual from the original population. Thus a new species is created, and thus Macro-Evolution has taken place.

And you're right, Humans didn't evolve from monkeys. What happened is that a very long time ago, Humans and Monkeys shared a single common ancestor. At some point, for some reason, the chain of Micro-Evolution split off, one path evolving toward modern Humans, and another evolving toward modern Monkeys. Eventually, both of us ended up the way we are today.

Yes, the Earth is, in fact, 4.54 billion years old. Want proof? Okay!
1. The speed of light in a vacuum is 299,792,458 meters per second. (This is irrefutably, mathematically proven, as well as proven through observation.)
2. The Andromeda Galaxy is 2,600,000 light-years away.
3. We can take pictures of the Andromeda Galaxy, this means that the Andromeda Galaxy has existed for more than 2,600,000 years, because that's how long it's light took to reach us.

Since The Bible says that God created the stars 2 days after he created the Earth, and this supposedly happened 6000-7000 years ago, The Bible is directly proven wrong, because we can see the Andromeda Galaxy.

iverie In reply to Freakin-Ninja [2012-03-29 02:51:30 +0000 UTC]

Hang on, I thought you were trying to prove the what the bible says is true, now you're saying it's been proven wrong (which by the way you're mistaken on that). You need to get your ideas right before you try and have a battle like this.

Freakin-Ninja In reply to iverie [2012-03-29 03:58:06 +0000 UTC]

I never tried to prove the Bible right, I was just correcting you when you said that it didn't include some things.

And which part is wrong, exactly? Please point it out, and tell me how to correct it.

iverie In reply to Freakin-Ninja [2012-03-29 05:07:45 +0000 UTC]

Follow the timeline in the bible, and the earth is about 6,000 years old.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Freakin-Ninja In reply to iverie [2012-03-29 05:15:17 +0000 UTC]

The timeline in the Bible is wrong. Did you even bother to read my comment about the distance to the Andromeda Galaxy? Can you explain to me how you still hold the belief that the universe is only 6000 years old when I just showed you that it clearly isn't?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

iverie In reply to Freakin-Ninja [2012-03-29 06:36:45 +0000 UTC]

I didn't say the universe. I said the Earth is only 6,000 years old. No man knows what our Lord knows, which means it's possible the universe is older than the Earth.
Even if it isn't, God can do anything, so perhaps he sent the light faster than normal, then slowed it down after it reached Earth. If God can make time stop, He can sure as heck make it go faster.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Freakin-Ninja In reply to iverie [2012-03-29 07:15:14 +0000 UTC]

In Genesis, it describes God creating the stars and setting them in the sky, two days after he created the Earth. The stars you see in the sky are, according to Genesis, 2 days younger than the Earth. And what is the universe composed of? The stuff we see in the sky. Ergo, the visible universe was created at the same time as - and is the same age as - the Earth.

Where are you getting the idea that God can make time stop? And God clearly didn't change the flow of time, because he created everything in 7 days, according to Genesis. If he sped up time, then the passage of days would speed up too.

For what purpose would God speed up light and then slow it down? For the light from the area of the Hubble Ultra Deep Field photograph (The deepest photograph of space ever taken, ~ 13 billion light-years away) to get to us in a day, the speed of light would have be 4,745,000,000,000 times faster than the speed of light we know now. So you're saying that God accelerated the speed of light by that much, then slowed it down? Why would he do this?
