SURPRISING NO ONE I freaking love the leaked beta pokes. I find it fascinating to see how recognisable some of them are to ones we saw come out later, plus seeing where some families could have been developed.When i saw leafeonβs beta i instantly thought it looked like vines or roots growing out of its legs, and envisioned it having a special move visually similar to Frenzy plant, with leafeon digging roots into the ground and them coming out to ensnare and damage the opponent.

since now we have a real leafeon, I can only imagine this one being some bug type, even though it would be mainly grass first

I love how you made its feet go into the ground! I also wish the kept the stripes on Leafeon, since none of the other eeveeolutions have them.

I just couldn't help but see it as roots rather than just funky leaf bell bottom jeans haha. I do like the stripes too, it would have made sense if it was being released at the same time as umbreon since umb has their circle markings

Ikr? It just generally has more design to it than the final product, in my opinion both Leafeon and glaceon look like they had less put into them.

Really interesting to see that Leafeon was made way back before Gen 4. Makes me hope that some of the other unused Pokemon, especially Farfetch'd's evolution, appears in the future.

It's weird that they had that idea so long ago and decided to not go ahead with it. I'm glad it resurfaced. I honestly thought that that was an early version of swanna I didn't even think until I saw the notes to say it was an evolution. It's cool to see how many previously non-evolution pokes were gonna get something as early as 2nd gen (farfetch'd, tangala, ditto, likitung) and seeing how much later (if ever) they got one

Same! I love so many of the leaked designs and I wish they were real but I'm worried that now they've been leaked nintendo will adamantly refuse to release them in any future games.

It's from a newly leaked early beta of Pokemon gold! There are lots of early versions of pokes that didn't got redesigned, as well as a lot that got completely scrapped. There's a complete roster of the Pokemon that were going to feature as well as more info about the demo here:

Nah, umbreon and espeon were still a second gen invention, just Leafeon was going to be there too and use the leaf stone to evolve (would have been interesting to see them use stones throughout but I guess their reasoning was so that there was a good reason why someone couldn't have just thrown a leaf stone at their eevee from the first game)
