Description
As I have said before and elsewhere: if you want to draw well you don't need to master the basics, you need a keen eye and lots of patience. Basics are definitely overrrated. I know fellas that publish in per reviewed journals and never went thru the usual arts basics. However, and let's face it,doing everything alone and without any instructions and ignoring the basics that have helped most artists out there, is the longest and hardest way of achieving anything.I have sought for counsel from other people, sometimes it is not bad, sometimes it is a bit disappointing. This latest time it was I have realized he has some 'starnge interests' but in general he seems like a nice fella that is working hard to get better. So my first assigment was to draw Comma in the trditional way most contemporary artists will draw: ball and stick skeleton, temporary lines to define eyebrows, eyes, nose, lips, draft...etc
I hope I am not beyond salvation...but who knows. I followed the instructions
Comma belongs to
Danke 4 all da faves. And to the owner for accepting to help me

Interesting. Something is missing. Two things. I can't put my finger on it, but it'll come to me eventually
Still, very nice!

Interesting study. I agree, artwork is something that's learned over time, piece by piece. Every creation you develope you strive to make "perfect", only to realize that there is no such thing. For after you have completed your ultimate masterpiece, a true artist can step back, and identify a flaw. Then say "I'll make it better next time". The result is continuous improvement.
Β
An artist tries new things, different ideas, and of course, the suggestions of others. Taking in both the nicest of compliments as well as the harshest of critisims, and tries to tune his or her skills toward whatever direction their heart and desires tell them.
Β
Basically, the artist who claims to be "perfect" is lieing to himself.
A true artist is someone who is humble and even a bit pesimistic about their work. Yet it's those that we often see the most growth out of.
Β
I'm usually a silent lurker, but I've taking a keen interest in your work and I love the improvement I've seen thus far.
I alway look forward to your work. Continue the great work.

Thanks for the comment and the encouragement. Let's face it, the artists and fans alike say: 'draw for yourself, if the other don't like it, good for them' but the reality is more complex. If artists didn't liek to share with others and please those with similar tastes, there will be no art galleries, or sites like this.Β

Nice. And to think I started to doubt that you could ever draw normal-sized women Sorry I'm just pulling your leg here, man. Great work.
I don't know why but I find that single tuft of hair standing up really funny.

haha Β thanks. About the hair tuft, it is a character trait, pretty frequently used by famous and not so famous artists

in a tutorial I read once, it said that changing stilescould be useful for the artist's own. In any case this is not the first time i try manga style. Thanks for the comment tho

Well I hope you continue trying it - your personal style is great but like you said, it's a good idea to try new styles in order to grow. Good luck!

This might be a great new style for you to approach, really.
Of course, I like your usual style, too. Just saying that you did this one very well, too.

Thanks...what I don't like of my 'usual' style is that it always looks different. Sometimes it looks ok, some others it looks not well. An artist will do decently well only when their style becomes homogeneous, and that's something I haven0t been able to achieve Β

it is okay, i am a weird fella that looks and follows lots of people, but I don't have anyone on my watcher list. I am training my memory, which is becoming pretty lousy lately, and having a list will cause me to stay lazy
