I'll say. There's just quite a style to it that just makes it brilliant. I would say it's Ralph Bakshi's "Citizen Kane" if you will.Β

A TERRIFIC - and grossly misunderstood movie (amongst it's biggest fans, Richard Pryor, WuTang Clan), and it was written by Messers Bakshi, Scotsman Crothers and Barry White.
The story of the screenings - with (ugh) Al S. (I won't 'advertise the slime-balls name) attempting to stir up 'revolt,' and even his 'heavies' LOVED the film) is fascinating.
Sad - how stupidly 'sensitive' people are.
They don't get it - it's by talking about such things one builds up and understands - NOT by hiding under the bed.

The film is actually on Uncle Remus and Br'er Rabbit. Obviously, the characters are the main similarity. Brother Rabbit is cool and clever, much like his Br'er counterpart, and can make it out of virtually any tough scrape. For that matter, he's also kind of like Bugs Bunny. Preacher Fox is aggressive and crazy, and Brother Bear is brawn over brain, and isΒ not as intelligent as his other bros. Coincidentally, the pre-storytelling sequence is live action, while the storytelling itself is animated, much like the 40s Disney adaptation. There's not much of a plot, but being a Ralph Bakshi film, it's moreΒ revolved on animation and character, and in this one, the facial animation doesn't quite match the voices, and the characters were excellent, making this film well worth watching!

My copy will soon be setting next to Frits The Cat, The Nine Lives Of Frits The Cat and The Wizards.
God, animation from the 70's-80's could be very crude, and amusing!
