Description SO WE'RE GOING TO IGNORE THE FACT THAT IT TOOK ME MULTIPLE DAYS TO DO THIS FOR SOME REASON ???

~~~~~
In the game Castle Cats (created by Kamirah on DA) there are these weird (but cool) tree monsters that you battle against (I actually have no idea what they're officially called so I just call them lumberjacks) and I thought they were pretty interesting- at least enough to spend a couple of days on them. They come in two separate colors in game, both red and green, and while it may imply that the two different colorations are different subspecies I figured it would be interesting if they changed colors during their life cycle- so I made that.
There are three notable or major phases of the lumberjack life cycle: green, bloodwood, and deadwood (all of which are pictured, green being top left, bloodwood being top middle, and deadwood being the larger drawing in the center)
'Green Lumberjack' references anywhere from firstborn to the dirty green-brown, full grown subadults before shifting into the Bloodwood phase. Greens are typically neutral and hardy, their main concern is growing which they do by taking nutrients out of the Earth. They can occasionally be aggressive and territorial as they mature closer to the bloodwood phase.
'Bloodwoods' are extremely aggressive lumberjack and are classified as bloodwoods from the first buds of flowers sprouting on their antlers to when all or most of their amber leaves fall off, their main concern is still taking in as many nutrients as possible to grow stronger but during this phase they can resort (and sometimes even prefer) to eating meat.
'Deadwoods' are the very terrifying looking but ironically the most gentle phase of the lumberjack life cycle, deadwood is both the reproductive and death phase. During this phase, the deadwood roots itself into the ground, the nutrients it consumed during the green and redwood phases are used to build up its strength and layers of wood used to protect its eggs- should it not have sufficient nutrients, the deadwood's offspring will hatch malformed or not at all and the deadwood would likely not live long enough until hatching. During the course of developing and growing the eggs the deadwood passes over whatever life force it has to its offspring, decaying over the period. A healthy deadwood dies the day the offspring come to life.
hope you enjoyed! Kinda working on some minor stuff to add a little more details into the lore, but having fun all the same!
Castle Cats is a mobile game created by Kamirah and PocApp, its kind of like a cat collectors game meets clicker battles- the felines are very fun to read about. :^)
please do not use or post my art elsewhere.
Awesome! I had the idea that the red tree beings are what happens when they take enough damage and get serious about fighting.
The Gnolls are the wolves, pretty sure. Seeing as Gnolls in Dungeons & Dragons / Pathfinder / EverQuest / WarCraft / etc. are canine people. Well, Hyena-people in D&D, Pathfinder, and WarCraft, but it still sorta’ fits. EverQuest Gnolls look like wolf-men.
You're welcome! I like creative interpretations of monsters. Just look at Arvalis' realistic interpretations of Dragons and Pokémon.
