A bit to "Painted" to go with my style but cool none the less. Fire's a hard effect to make look right.

Hey your tutorial is working liek a charm, but I'm stuck at merging then dodging it, I can't seem to merge them properly as it still looks okay on the fire but the the strokes around it becomes normal and loses it's transparency. I wanna dodge the fire(Turbo puns!) but I don't wanna go through the trouble of erasing the bits. So does this mean I have to finish with the fire last via flatten image? Awesome tutorial btw =].

Best way is indeed to add final touches at the flattened layer - if youve got problems with merging, flatten image in a seperate file - usually works for me
