A/N: This is set three and a half years after the events of Jurassic World. In an attempt to engineer gentler dinosaurs, they are designed to be male. (Generally male lizards tend to make better pets.) Also, I believe Archaeopteryx is pronounced "Ark-ee-op-ter-ix".
If you don't know what an Archaeopteryx looks like, follow this link:

Archaeopteryx Training
Being a dinosaur trainer was something you hadn't really foreseen when you were younger, although considering your father was Dr Alan Grant, you figured some form of work with the ancient lizards was inevitable.
You'd intended to just do general paleontology, studying the rare Archaeopteryx fossils, however, you had become a renowned expert and that caught the attention of Jurassic World. While Archaeopteryx was technically a bird, it was still very dinosaur as well, and would make a wonderful addition to their new park. They were planning an exhibit with the bird and wished for you to train them, maybe even get them to do some tricks. Your father had tried to persuade you otherwise considering his bad experiences with the parks but you accepted the job anyway.
A once in a lifetime opportunity. It would be great, assuming you didn't get eaten.
So that's why you are currently in a paddock, holding a frozen lizard, waiting for one of your birds to glide down to your arm as you had been training them to. They were rustling around in the forested area of the paddock, until one of the two swooped out into the open area, gliding over to you and landing obediently on your arm and tearing the lizard from your clenched fist. It was larger than the natural Archaeopteryx and it's feathers were brighter, as the genetic engineers wanted it to appeal more to the public. The bird currently sitting on your arm was named Merlin, who had varying shades of blue and white plumage. He was generally the more humanised and obedient of the two, but Blitz (your other bird) generally is more popular with the public.
"Good boy Merlin, good boy." You praised, stroking his lightly feathered head. He screeched happily and gently knocked his head into yours before gliding down and trotting off.
"Blitz! Come!" You called, picking another lizard out of the bucket and clenching it in your fist before holding your arm out in anticipation for the bird. You heard a screech in the nearby trees, and soon after Blitz glided majestically from one of the tallest trees, his red, orange and yellow plumage shimmering in the light like a bird of fire. He landed on your arm, snatched the lizard and quickly left to scale one of the trees.
"Miss (L/n)!"
You spun around to see Claire Dearing entering your paddock, accompanied by the famous Owen Grady. You were slightly unnerved by her; she rarely visited the trainers, she was much more standoffish when running the park. Your mind raced, wondering if you were in some deep trouble.
"Yes. How can I help you ma'am?"
"As you know, the Velociraptor project was a failure and a success in many ways. We realise that the ferocity of raptors is a big problem while training them, but we have noticed varied levels of success on your project. The birds seem to respond well to your training, and we have decided to recruit Mr Grady to the project."
"Why? I've looked after these birds since they hatched. They probably won't take well to a new trainer."
"Ah, well that's what we want to see. As you know, Archaeopteryx is not the most dangerous creature in this park, so we wouldn't be putting any lives at risk. We want to see how versatile these birds really are."
Getting real tired of your shit Miss Dearing. Why couldn't you just be left with the birds. From what you'd heard, Owen Grady was obnoxious, overly confident, and generally an ass to be around.
"Is it an order?" You asked.
"Yes Miss (L/n) that is an order. You will work with Mr Grady and you will not complain. Understood?"
"Yes ma'am."
She then left you with Owen and headed back to whenever the hell demons go when they're done torturing people.
"Look, if it helps, I don't want to be on this project either. I work with fierce predators, not wussy bug eatin' birds." Owen grumbled.
"Now look here Owen, these are not just wussy birds, these are highly evolved and complex predators who deserve just as much respect as your poncy raptors." You snarled.
"Feisty! I like a girl with some fire in her belly." He said in a low tone with a smirk on his face. You simply rolled your eyes and took a lizard from the bucket before calling Merlin over.
"This is Merlin. The one in the trees is Blitz. Merlin is smarter and more humanised, so I'm gonna have you work with him. He's less likely to tear your face off."
"Come on, they don't exactly inspire fear." He scoffed.
"Really? Wanna see their teeth?" You opened Merlin's mouth to brandish a fresh set of razor sharp teeth. "Now stroke him. Show him you're not hostile. If he's good, give him a chunk of meat from one of the buckets."
Owen begrudgingly took a slice of meat from one of the buckets and carefully put his hand on Merlin's head. The bird growled softly at first, but calmed down. Owen threw the meat and the bird caught it in the air gratefully.
"Good. Progress. Now take a lizard and walk a couple of meters away. Then I want you to call his name. See if he'll listen to you." You handed him one of your spare falconry gloves to put on and showed him how to hold the little lizard. He then walked a distance away and called Merlin's name. Merlin looked at you quizzically and you pointed to Owen in an attempt to guide the bird. It leapt from your hand and glided the short distance to Owen.
"Good boy." Owen cooed. Maybe he wasn't too bad. Maybe he would warm up to the birds. Maybe you would warm up to him. You walked over to him and smiled; he looked quite the part with Merlin on his arm and a proud grin on his face.
"Well. I'm impressed. I didn't expect him to listen to you." You praised.
"What can I say, I'm a natural with dinosaurs." He replied smugly.
"They're actually birds." You laughed.
"Brains as well?! Wow, you just get better and better." He purred. Merlin hopped down onto the ground and scurried off.
"You're not gonna talk your way into my pants." You replied.
"I can try. I'm very good at it." He said, advancing toward you with a devilish glint in his eye. He rubbed his hands up and down your arms and gazed into your eyes. "You're really pretty."
"I'm not gonna sleep with you."
"Maybe I don't wanna sleep with you...tonight anyway." He smirked and your stomach fluttered. He was very good looking, you admitted, but you didn't want some silly fling. You were done with that.
The shrill screech of one of the Archaeopteryx knocked you from your thoughts and before you could even react it had swooped at Owen and knocked him to the floor.
"Oh my god, Blitz! No! Over here!" You called, panicked. The bird stopped clawing at him briefly to look at you, tilting it's head thoughtfully. "That's it. Over here. Come on. Good boy." Blitz hopped off and trotted over to you so you threw him a treat and walked over to Owen and helped him up. His shirt was pretty torn up and he had a few cuts but he'd live.
"I told you they weren't wussy." You laughed. He gazed at you briefly, breathless from his brief struggle.
"Okay, okay. I'm sorry." He said before taking you by surprise and pressing a passionate kiss on your lips. Your mind raced, trying to comprehend all the reasons why you shouldn't be kissing him but you gave up, melting into the kiss. You wrapped your arms around his neck and kissed him back, your body temperature slowly rising as his hands slid up your waist.
You pulled away, breathless and he smiled smugly.
"What?" You asked.
"I dunno. You're a great kisser." You felt your cheeks heat up at the comment and you gazed down at your feet.
"Thanks." You replied. "I guess this new project won't be to bad."
"Course not. Everything is awesome when I'm involved." He said cockily.
Well, this new project probably wouldn't last very long, but you knew it would definitely be interesting.
And who knows! Owen might even last a week before he gets eaten. Or you murder him.

I actually think Jurassic World would be a good place for me to work. I'm a huge dino nerd, I knew what a paleontologist was since I was three fricking years old, and I love dinosaurs! Amazing!

Yes! Sounds like you'd be a great fit! It's a personal dream of mine too, I've wanted to be a paleontologist since I was a kid as well!
