For the first month of his life, Mako was born side by side with his brother Tsinga, and raised by two loving adult cheetahs in the wild African savanna. Their mother had the same snowy blue and silver gray pelt, and their father was the typical color for a cheetah. Their first few weeks weren't that eventful, only consisting of their mother's love and father's visits. They were proving that they would one day be strong adult cheetahs to be white-blue blurs on the golden savanna- But soon more and more humans began populating the plains that their parents had called home.

Eventually, during a hunt- their parents were killed by human poachers; their mother for her pelt, and their father as collateral damage.

It took a few minutes, but eventually the two cubs, because of their pelts, were spotted in the long grass. Chirping for their parents and crying because they were hungry, and it wasn’t long before they were taken as well. The humans whom had killed their mother and father saw better profit in selling them alive rather than pelts, and were sold off to foreign travelers as pets.

For the next four months, the cubs lived a relatively safe life. The humans they were sold to were entertainers from Rome, traveling and teaching small animals how to earn them money and make a living. They bought the two sibling cubs because of their unique coloring, and after naming Mako as Jupiter, and Tsinga as Mercury; taught them how to pretend fight each other in comedic ways to impress and entertain their customers.

Once or twice Mako (then Jupiter) was put into real fights in low ranking coliseums, pitted against another cub to test their strengths. These first battles weren't to the death, but many times a cub came away fatally wounded and later died from his injuries. Luckily, Mako was never one of those cubs, and had never tried to cause such serious injuries. Mako’s brother, being the more reserved and docile of the two, was never put into the fights for fear he would be killed.

This lifestyle continued for about a month until the brothers’ humans’ received a special message.

During their fourth month of life, Mako's owners were sent for by the Emperor himself, requesting this growing tale of two snowy colored cheetahs who could perform acts and plays that had not been previously taught to cats of their rarity.

Soon, Mako and his brother were packed up like common objects, and quickly began traveling across the country side to the most well-known and largest coliseum, located in the city of Massilia.

However, along the way, a strong thunderstorm hindered the travel of their caravan, and the humans had been forced to make camp in a shallow dip in the land along the road, throwing a thick cover over the rickety crates that held their two prized cubs.

Later in the evening, when Mako and his brother Tsinga had been fed their nightly meal- a caravan of thieves raided their camp, brutally killing their humans, and stealing everything they could find within a moment’s notice. During the chaos, the cubs crates has been knocked to the side and burst open upon impact with the ground. In their shared panic, they had lunged through the woods and across the plains, still bearing their human-given accessories, and fled into the night before the thieves could kill or steal them as well.

Eventually the two brothers were found by a mysterious lightning bolt clad patrol, and were taken back to their camp. There they were allowed to join the strange cats, who they came to know as Lightning Empire, and from there, were finally able to let out their inner wild cats. They eventually remembered their real names- Mako and Tsinga, and took their names back in memory of their lost parents, despite their faded memories of them.

For a long while, they lived a happy life in Lightning Empire, learning the ways of their Empire-mates and gaining respect for the Gladiators that taught them, and new friends. In their young eyes, nothing could get better about their lives, and soon they would cast off the final pieces of their captive life that were their neck and headbands.

One dark, overcast night would bring the end to that peace.

At nine and a half months of age, and so very close to becoming a Gladiator’s apprentice, there was a deadly raid on Lightning Empire’s heart and home. Cats whom smelled of foul humans had rushed into the camp, and as Mako woke and crawled towards the opening of the Nursery nest, a monstrous black-stripped white tiger barreled into the camp and snatched the cheetah cub right from where he had lain comfortable and happy moments earlier.

Without mercy, the tiger had shaken and thrashed the cub until he wailed and cried for help from his Empire-mates, being taken farther and farther from his home into a large, forest encircled clearing now feared by Lightning Empire Gladiators.

The cub’s cries had earned no response save for a single Gladiator, whose name was Dehlia. The rest of the Empire had rushed to the immediate defense of the sleeping Apprentices, leaving Mako to be tossed to the ground and brutally crushed beneath the tiger’s large paw. Barely enough relief was given between the paw and the ground to keep Mako from being killed, he struggled to hold onto consciousness, the shock and dizziness of his sudden capture and assault drawing a shadow of darkness over his vision.

If you asked him today, he could probably –and reluctantly- tell you that all he could remember from the night was pain, fear, and darkness. He had been kicked across the clearing and into Dehlia, the Gladiator whom had chased after the monster of a tiger to protect him.

Gaining four new scars along his chest, Mako had awoken minutes later in the chaotic atmosphere of battle, surrounded on all sides by Hunters and Gladiators. Scared and confused, he had followed the only scent and pelt he recognized in a desperate attempt at safety. The pelt was that of Abiola, the previous leader of Lightning Empire, and a cat Mako looked up to like a hero and a father figure.

But his instinct to follow the elder cheetah turned out to be his worst mistake, and he was there to witness the Leader’s murder at the paws of a Lynx known as Scaeden. For this, Mako’s mind snapped in a way that may never heal, and he shot forward while ignoring his wounds, screaming in denial in a futile kamikaze towards the Hunter’s leader. Barely with any effort, Scaeden had managed to subdue and scoop up Mako’s wounded body in his mouth, and took off, leading his Hunters away from a victorious battle.

Mako doesn’t remember much after that.

For two and a half months, Mako was the victim of everything the City had to offer an ownerless, rare-pelted feline. There had been contemplation of skinning him for his pelt, but the four scars left by Kallen, the white tiger whom had kidnapped him in the first place, quickly made that option inadequate for profit to the humans.

It was quickly decided that he would be given to the Hunters, and he was quickly thrown into the low ranking pit fights, having been expected to be nothing more than training fodder for the hunters-in-training.

However, Mako’s early life training in the small time coliseum fights for money proved useful in this, and in his fragile state of mind, was vicious in protecting himself from the cubs who attacked him, earning him a surprise spot in the Hunter’s actual ranks to replace a young apprentice he had killed during one of these outbursts.

Taken under the wing of Scaeden, the Hunter’s leader himself, Mako has been fed lies and foul information of the Empires to the point where he’s unsure what is truth or lies at this point, and is currently serving the City as a Hunter Apprentice.

Entertainment fights:
When Mako and his brother were small, they had been taught to ‘fight’ each other in comic and exaggerated ways. Because of this, he’s a little over dramatic in his moves, but has an unorthodox way of dodging and striking that my come as a surprise to Gladiators or Hunters.

Low-ranking coliseum fights:
After Mako had grown up some, his old human trainers had entered him into sub-par coliseum fights to earn extra money for the caravan. He learned quickly, and did his best to win; without giving fatal injuries to his opponents.

Empire Lessons:
Early in Mako’s life in Lightning Empire, his friends and seniors had humored he and the other cubs his age by teaching them minor maneuvers such as a shoulder roll and dodge.

Icy blue hues watched intently from the shadowy foliage above, the tip of his bobbed tail flicking ever so subtly with a mixture of amusement and fatherly anticipation. Watching the young felines below him move about carefully, using their wits and knowledge to try and locate him without so much as a hint. It was gratifying to the lynx, knowing he was responsible for their upbringing as Apprentices and Gladiators.

As he watched, they continued to test the scents of the forest around them, checking under bushes and even occasionally looking upwards- it was smart of them. He had given no indication of his location, but they knew enough to check the territory of the air as well; it would serve them in the future should Hunters or, perhaps even another Empire, decided to ambush them from the high branches. Surprise and numbers were the two weaknesses of a Gladiator, and not being aware of every direction would surely be the death of an unsuspecting cat.

Shadow's words whispered their way into Soren's ears, and he perked them forwards, feeling a warm glow of satisfaction that the cub already knew enough. He wasn't dumb on catching the swallowed name that the lion almost uttered either, and a melancholy shadow flitted over his heart for a moment. Koda would have been a brilliant mentor for Shadow. But what has passed is done, and there is no turning back. Mentally hardening himself, the mahogany colored leader moved his paw to a more comfortable spot. If one of the Apprentices were to climb up to get a better look, he'd surely be found.

"Prey comes in many shapes and sizes, Alynnia." He answered her, his voice ringing with a soft laughter that could just be heard.

Thoughts and words distracted Soren from the single motion of his paw he made, and he silently cursed as he rustled a small swatch of leaves beside him. They would have heard that for sure- he'd have to think quickly to cover up his amateur mistake.

A few birds fluttered through the branches a few lengths away, their twittering songs echoing slightly in the soft breeze that rustled the leaves even further up than where he lay. Mentally he noted that their presence would be a good cover for quick solution, and he quietly shifted forward, grasping a newly budded green pinecone carefully between his teeth. With a last glance downwards, he tossed the pinecone towards the far end of the small clearing, opposite of the direction he wanted to go.

As it hit the grass and dry leaves with a thud, Soren tensed himself in preparation of climbing his way to a different area.

He wouldn't let these younglings find him that easily.-

However, Mako’s early life training in the small time coliseum fights for money proved useful in this, and in his fragile state of mind, was vicious in protecting himself from the cubs who attacked him, earning him a surprise spot in the Hunter’s actual ranks to replace a young apprentice he had killed during one of these outbursts.

Taken under the wing of Scaeden, the Hunter’s leader himself, Mako has been fed lies and foul information of the Empires to the point where he’s unsure what is truth or lies at this point, and is currently serving the City as a Hunter Apprentice.

Mako’s original human given name was “Jupiter”

Mako is rather small for his species, considering his mutation.

Mako and his brother share the mutation “Heterochromia Iridis”, but with reverse colored eyes.

Mako and Tsinga are twins and share many similar pelt traits.

Character quirks:

Mako has a habit of chewing, and can often be seen with a small toothpick-like bone sticking out of his mouth.

Mako has a fascination with birds and likes to watch them in his free time.

Past Training Experience

Entertainment fights:
When Mako and his brother were small, they had been taught to ‘fight’ each other in comic and exaggerated ways. Because of this, he’s a little over dramatic in his moves, but has an unorthodox way of dodging and striking that my come as a surprise to Gladiators or Hunters.

Low-ranking coliseum fights:
After Mako had grown up some, his old human trainers had entered him into sub-par coliseum fights to earn extra money for the caravan. He learned quickly, and did his best to win; without giving fatal injuries to his opponents.

Empire Lessons:
Early in Mako’s life in Lightning Empire, his friends and seniors had humored he and the other cubs his age by teaching them minor maneuvers such as a shoulder roll and dodge.

He’s currently being brainwashed into believing the Empires are truly at fault and had never cared about his wellbeing. Will he escape, or be forced to submit to the mind-bending force of the City life?

Icy blue hues watched intently from the shadowy foliage above, the tip of his bobbed tail flicking ever so subtly with a mixture of amusement and fatherly anticipation. Watching the young felines below him move about carefully, using their wits and knowledge to try and locate him without so much as a hint. It was gratifying to the lynx, knowing he was responsible for their upbringing as Apprentices and Gladiators.

As he watched, they continued to test the scents of the forest around them, checking under bushes and even occasionally looking upwards- it was smart of them. He had given no indication of his location, but they knew enough to check the territory of the air as well; it would serve them in the future should Hunters or, perhaps even another Empire, decided to ambush them from the high branches. Surprise and numbers were the two weaknesses of a Gladiator, and not being aware of every direction would surely be the death of an unsuspecting cat.

Shadow's words whispered their way into Soren's ears, and he perked them forwards, feeling a warm glow of satisfaction that the cub already knew enough. He wasn't dumb on catching the swallowed name that the lion almost uttered either, and a melancholy shadow flitted over his heart for a moment. Koda would have been a brilliant mentor for Shadow. But what has passed is done, and there is no turning back. Mentally hardening himself, the mahogany colored leader moved his paw to a more comfortable spot. If one of the Apprentices were to climb up to get a better look, he'd surely be found.

"Prey comes in many shapes and sizes, Alynnia." He answered her, his voice ringing with a soft laughter that could just be heard.

Thoughts and words distracted Soren from the single motion of his paw he made, and he silently cursed as he rustled a small swatch of leaves beside him. They would have heard that for sure- he'd have to think quickly to cover up his amateur mistake.

A few birds fluttered through the branches a few lengths away, their twittering songs echoing slightly in the soft breeze that rustled the leaves even further up than where he lay. Mentally he noted that their presence would be a good cover for quick solution, and he quietly shifted forward, grasping a newly budded green pinecone carefully between his teeth. With a last glance downwards, he tossed the pinecone towards the far end of the small clearing, opposite of the direction he wanted to go.

As it hit the grass and dry leaves with a thud, Soren tensed himself in preparation of climbing his way to a different area.

He wouldn't let these younglings find him that easily.-
