Description
BOYS, I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS. I CANNOT BELIEVE THE DAY HAS COME WHERE I HAVE MADE A COMPETENT MODEL OF JOE. WHAT IN THE HECK?! I WANT TO SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!! With joy, of course. HE'S SO COOL LOOKING AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Blockbench devs, I love you. I love you so much.I modeled his somewhat impossible hair today. In 2D, drawing Joe's hair is simple, but in 3D... HA! I never even considered it. It's like Sonic's spikes in Sonic X, how they always face a certain way, so I had to somehow make the right silhouette. It's not bad, eh?! EH?! (Say it's bad and I'll KNIFE ya.) Just kidding. But yeah, it was fun. Joe doesn't care about his appearance at all, so his hair is naturally all over the place and uneven. Tons of extruding, baby. I also improved upon his face.
Next is the body, which I can do in my sleep. The face, which is the most important and hardest, is done, so I can dance and celebrate. Blenderbros, we have certainly gotten too cocky. Blockbench is the king of low poly. For reference, here's my piss poor attempt at Joe in Blender. Joe in 3 dimensions. by Hax-Dev on DeviantArt To my knowledge, you can't UV unwrap in Blender (I think) so Blockbench is truly king. However, I'll still use Blender for animation and rigging. To animate in Blockbench, each joint needs to be a separate mesh, and mine is one big one (as you do.) So yeah.
Using Blender for so long has made me incredibly grateful for Blockbench. I NEEDED a limited 3D program in my life. Paint tool sai, Blockbench, all very simple programs with not too many features. But it's because of that lack of features that I can use all the tools effectively. Yes, I am rather stupid.
What's so hype about this is that once he's done, it's literally just a texture swap and some slight edits and I'll have Dan since they're the same height. Oh yeah, Mr. Krabs! Of course, I'll post Dan when I make him, too. Are you hype? I'm hype! Finally, the last section of my game assets can be completed. Now I can truly work on whatever I'd like for it, since I now know how to do EVERYTHING!! Isn't that epic? Ubermensch bros, we are so back. When I'm done, I'll make a UV editing tutorial (if one is not on Youtube yet) because it was super hard to find out how to do it. Ok, that's it.
