Have you ever hurt someone really badly? Really, really badly. In a situation like that, even if you say sorry, somehow, it still feels as though it's not enough. When you see how terrible you made them feel, and what they went through, you can feel their pain too, and it makes you incredibly sad. In a situation like that, you want to put your head on their chest, and say, "I never want to hurt you again." But I can't do that, so I made a painting. Maybe it's because I'm an artist, but I feel as though words can only do so much. A picture can convey emotion where words fail you. Maybe.

Don't get the wrong idea, Jane is in the wrong here. But the man she's with is comforting her anyway. Someone like that is amazing, aren't they? You'd be lucky to have them in your life.
