Thanks Anndilek!
I'm guessing most people think the same thing. Thank you for giving it a second look!
I take longer when painting the details in. It may delay it slightly but it's worth the time

wait, i think answered right: it wasn't useless that you were making so much details - in which you're great - i think i'd stare at connor as long as i want and my result would be really different ...i think...great, i'm pretty confused
sorry!

Lol. No it's fine. I guess it makes sense now. It's just you mentioned the words 'useless' and then you said I was great in it which made me think that you might have mixed up your reply for me with someone else since I never mentioned those words before in my first ever reply to you. You understand what I mean? Or have I made this whole thing a lot more confusing HAHA!
Either ways thank you for your appreciation !

This is really amazing. I think the coolest part about it is how it seems to be done traditionally. All the small details are done amazingly and the textures really pull the entire image together! Great job on this!

Thanks Samisaywhat!
Yeah I like how it all blends well together. That was one of my biggest challenges. Getting the background to work with the foreground. Couldn't have one be more dominant than the other.

Thanks Coperaxe. It's one of the reasons I always post a W.I.P after. Most people mistaken it for a screenshot too. I guess I should be flattered.

I plan on posting a W.I.P after all my paintings from now on. Same process to be honest but it's always good to see.

I enjoy watching artist's methods and how they achieve their final results. I agree with you, it is always great to see!

Lol. I surprise myself sometimes when I look at it all together. The detailed shading is always my favourite part. The painting always takes shape at that point.

I like that feeling of when something pulls together and surprises you at how well it turns out! I think drawing out the concepts and figuring out how to approach something is currently my favorite. Mostly because it is loose and ideas are constantly coming as I figure out how to conceptualize my idea. Execution however is another story...but all things in due time!

Hax09 In reply to RiHouston [2012-09-20 18:30:44 +0000 UTC]
Exactly ! It's at that stage where any ideas are a bonus since it's very easy to fit into your art. Further along the line however it gets very difficult. It's worse when clients ask you to add something when you're right in middle of colouring it. It may be easier for other artists but I have a set method which requires me to start again on that one small change and put it through the process till it's same as the current painting...To put it lightly it's one HUGE headache to do

RiHouston In reply to Hax09 [2012-09-21 13:28:51 +0000 UTC]
It is good that you are successful to retain clients! Art will always be for myself, just a hobby to help keep me sane. Even so, I push myself hard to learn and to see how far I can go. It is exciting and rewarding so I keep on learning and moving forward. I am a self motivated and highly competitive person, so pushing myself is the easy part, it is making sure I don't rush headlong that is difficult!
I have a process I work through when I create something. I have so many rough sketches, a way to work out my ideas and concepts. I can't imagine having to change midway through for a request. It is hard enough changing things midway through when I spot a major mistake, but I can see how restarting can be the better option. Your work is really beautiful, so it certainly is worth all the effort you pour into it!

Art IS a hobby for me too. My real profession is Graphic Design. But since that's a very broad profession, illustration and other various forms of design play a part in it. It can backfire though. There have been many times were I wonder and question why I picked graphic design. But the negative days are outnumbered by the positive ones

RiHouston In reply to Hax09 [2012-09-23 14:52:49 +0000 UTC]
It is good that you picked something! I went with 'jack-of-all-trades' which kinda worked to my advantage in this current economic cycle we are going through. I believe as long as you do something you have some passion for, you will reach greater levels of success. You are truly gifted artistically, so I can see how graphic design was a natural fit.
Oh, and one good thing about bad days is that they all must come to an end. I tell myself that and it helps toughing it out that much easier. Well, that and reading the news about people who have it much worse than myself...

Hax09 In reply to RiHouston [2012-09-26 19:57:31 +0000 UTC]
True. It may sound clichΓ© but the phrase "It gets worse before it gets better" applies here. There's always those days were things go wrong then those days where a lot of things go wrong all at the same time. But like you said even bad days come to an end. I've had it happen to me but I guess it's experiences like that that make you the person you are. You can cope in the future then knowing you've survived much worse.

Well, I can't believe how fast the turnaround is, but I had some amazingly good news last night so the pendulum bipassed the middle and went straight up! XD Not that I don't appreciate my sudden good fortune, in fact, last week's events ensure that I am not taking it for granted! And another great thing to come out of this is that I have had an intellegent conversation with a like-mindind deviant whose work is very inspiring!

That's great! It's good to know that your luck is finally changing.
Anytime you feel like having an intelligent conversation let me know
I enjoy talking about work and learning about what processes others go through with their art too so by all means feel free to comment or message me if you want to talk in the future. And it doesn't have to be about my deviations either.

Thanks Pianogirl!
I used Adobe Photoshop CS6 (started it in CS3 but that doesn't matter) and I painted it using a Wacom Bamboo pen tablet. If you're buying a pen tablet ALWAYS buy Wacom. They are the best !
