First deviantart submission after restarting my profile after a long spell. Now focusing my profile on being a photography account with photo manipulations now longer being the main focus of my account. Cat has a serious expression and posture, which is pretty good for animal portraiture. The background is also dynamic, especially with this branch that goes behind the cat. Cat is also creating a nice contrast on the light background.
The cat is looking slightly to the right. Moving the whole frame a bit to the right to create some extra space in the direction the cat is looking, might add to the story of the image. Empty space in the direction the subject is looking at signifies an object of that attention, even though the viewer can't see that object. If possible, you could rotate the camera a bit to avoid the branch right in center of the main subject. Slight rotation would move the branch a bit to the left. The branch itself is interesting and makes the foreground of the picture dynamic as the background, only I think it can be distracting when directly in front of the cat. But again, I don't know where you stood. The camera doesn't seem to be much below the branch the cat is sitting on.
