Description
Despite the title, this is actually the first patch employed by the unit. I think they stopped using it around 2000. As with the first [link] it's not a perfect replica but as with the first, I spent ages screwing around with a wonky mouse. This is also the first piece of art where I've semi-succesfully used the pen tool. Should probably look up some tuts on that.Added info.
In the late 60s, the US Government set up a special operations group called Force Operation X, more commonly known as the FOX Unit which specialised in solo covert infiltration missions. This unit was disbanded by its CO in 1970 and quickly replaced in the following year by FOXHOUND, a special operations group under the command of 'Big Boss' - a title given to the FOX Unit's foremost soldier by President L. B. Johnson after his successful assasination of the famed American WWII Spec Ops soldier, 'The Boss,' following her defection to a Soviet breakaway group.
The FOXHOUND unit functioned under Big Boss until 1995 when Colonel Roy Campbell took command. Despite new additions to the group, Campbell's best operative was 'Solid Snake,' a soldier who had been recruited by Big Boss in his final year of command. Solid Snake however, retired in 1999 and retreated to the Alaskan wilderness.
In 2000, a former SAS soldier codenamed, 'Liquid Snake' took command of the unit and recruited a unique group of individuals as soldiers, including a former KGB operative and a powerful psychic. In 2005, FOXHOUND was scheduled to oversee the testing of a new weapons platform off the coast of Alaska and rebelled, taking over the facility and the weapon before demanding that the Pentagon turn over the remains of the now dead Big Boss. During this incident a retired Colonel Campbell was brought back in to oversee an infiltration mission to take out the threat, that would be performed by the also retired Solid Snake.
Following this incident, FOXHOUND was disbanded.
The events of the FOXHOUND unit are covered in the Metal Gear series of videogames, centering largely around the missions of Solid Snake and you can find a much more detailed history @ wikipedia [link] though I strongly urge you not to read spoilers and instead play the games.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (PS2) covers the FOX unit's first mission undertaken by 'Naked Snake.' Metal Gear (MSX2) covers Solid Snake's first mission under the command of Big Boss. Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake deals with Solid Snake's only mission under Col. Campbell. Metal Gear Solid (PSOne) concerns the solo mission undertaken by Solid Snake in Alaska. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (PS2) concerns events in 2007 where Solid Snake has been painted as an environmental terrorist and is operating as a private soldier.
In the order they were released (and the order you should play them in):
Metal Gear (MSX2) - never played
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (MSX2) - never played
Metal Gear Solid (PSOne) - BRILLIANT! SUPERB! FANTASTIC! The best game I have ever played.... aside from Tetris.
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (PS2) - Superb graphics and gameplay however the plot is hopelessly confusing, the game is too short and the main character "Raiden" is bereft of... well, character. You could skip this game and not miss out on much.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (PS2) - A huge improvement over the second MGS, this not only has the excellent graphics and gameplay, but a decent main character and plot to go with it. Strangely though, it almost completely lacks 'Metal Gear.'
Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3) - Set after the lacklustre MGS2 (post 2007), this game features Solid Snake as the main character and will hopefully see the return of many other fan favourites. We wait with baited breath....

I liked this one better than the newer FoxHound logo (from MGS and so far).

Nah - eventually I'll get that re-released MGS3 that's got the MSX games bundled with it, but until then I've only seen screenshots, and the update they made for phones. Shame.

Hey, not bad at all, the texture. The summary is good too, even if I didn't read it totally (actualy, I already know the story )
Personaly I love Metal Gear Solid 2 (even if the one is the greatest). I was a bit disappointed by the three...
By the way, I hate Raiden too. ^^ >>> [link]

thats right cool
ps. i found what would appear to be a complete history of all the events inc. some of the in between bits in the back of the MGS3 strategy guide, and some analysis of the confusing patriots nonsense

Meh - I just really hate MGS2. Raiden's crap, Rose is annoying, the playing area is too small and unimaginative, there's no Meryl, the plot is rubbish and YOU CAN'T SAVE EMMA!
There are some cool things (such as Vamp) but on the whole, I hate that game because of what it should have been.
