Oh boy do i have questions about this.

The top left is bump map, right? Why does it look like that- how did you di it?
What its the top right?
Whats the bottom left?
Did your sort out all the UV's yourself, or do you have a program that helps?

top left is a normal map. I did it by using xnormal, remember i explained it to you before! Thats just the way normal maps look all funky! Top right is my specular color - thats whats giving all the nice yellow highlights on the metal.

Bottom left is my opacity map. it tells what parts of the model are see through and what are not.

I create and pack uv's by hand - there are no shortcuts available for this - despite many claims and many pieces of software out there its still much faster and more efficient to do this by hand.

Okay, do you know where i could find like, a tutorial that explains how to do it? Im just about at the coloring stage of my environment, and i don't even know where to start when it comes to UVs.

You know what, i honestly dont know where to find a good tutorial on unwrapping stuff. I never could find one back when i needed it - i had to teach myself. Google search for UVW Mapping Tutorial 3dsmax - that would be a good start!

Nice. What's the map in the upper right corner? Is that specular or emission? And the map in the lower left corner is that your cavity map?

HazardousArts In reply to sstrikerr [2010-10-17 23:12:04 +0000 UTC]
