I got a question can your models be animated? or are they for just modeling?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

HazardousArts In reply to UrbanPhoenix27 [2010-03-15 23:15:34 +0000 UTC]

This is a sculpting challenge only, so im not building this one in a T pose for rigging / animation However, you cuold still animate these models, the topology at the end will be clean enough to do so

well a lot of it is in the texture work.
its so exciting to see technically a next gen version of Fran, even her toes look like toes this time

HazardousArts In reply to CaptJapan [2010-03-16 02:24:30 +0000 UTC]

Unfortunately this wont be a next gen version just a high poly sculpt for the competition!

That looks awasome So a few questions as I am still teaching myself some stuffs

When you go into z brush do you get your uv's layed out beforehand or do it after? Does the order matter?

I'm also interested in if you do any projection paint in photo shop or like in the plug ins, or if you pain in z brush itself.

I want to pick your brain as I experiment with stuff

HazardousArts In reply to DigiAvalon [2010-03-15 23:17:49 +0000 UTC]

it doesnt matter what order you go in and I only uv things if I'm making a game model - this one is just a sculpture... might get it printed

DigiAvalon In reply to HazardousArts [2010-03-16 17:35:01 +0000 UTC]

cool, so back to textureing to you use any 3d painting tools? like the plug in for ps, of z brush when you do your hand painted textures?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

HazardousArts In reply to DigiAvalon [2010-03-16 23:52:25 +0000 UTC]

nope, I still paint on the texture flats, the software just isnt fast enough yet, I like instant feedback on my strokes !! not like paint... update.. paint... update argh! When it catches up, i probably will switch over!!

DigiAvalon In reply to HazardousArts [2010-03-17 00:37:04 +0000 UTC]

Ya I tryed it in maya at it was like that however the new 3d paint in photosho cs4 just on its own has been pretty smooth. its not perfect you need to paint on the flats too but for makeing things easyer for seamlessness I've liked it so far I've been haveing a really hard time with makeing things semaless.

I found ps 3d to be slow as well, it seems to be okay when you work with less than 5000 tris, and a 1024, but anything more than that, and things start slowing down...

DigiAvalon In reply to HazardousArts [2010-03-18 16:02:02 +0000 UTC]

Ic So I've been looking at you lay outs and do you just try to kep things reflected for the most part when aplicable to make it easyer to keep the shadeing without seams? Seams are my enamy and I am a bit of a crazy shader

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

HazardousArts In reply to DigiAvalon [2010-03-18 23:59:04 +0000 UTC]

i try to always put seams in the places they are the least likely to be seen, and then I will mirror stuff only if i think it wont look too bad when its completed. And of course depends on what piece is being mirrored! Its all a matter of looking at your model and breaking it down accordingly.

Good edge flow, i love the legs.
The face looks great, iΒ΄m seeing already franΒ΄s face, did you made her from zero or you have a prefav and you just tweak it ?
The hands? are hidden or your are gonna add it later?

Great work, i just love the way she looks right now, canΒ΄t wait to see the final model, but IΒ΄m sad because in the end, for time reasons, you choose to make Fran instead Lulu.

Greets

P.S. : sorry about my English

HazardousArts In reply to TLund [2010-03-15 23:19:39 +0000 UTC]

i have a block mesh kinda of base mesh, I build and tweak from there. Hands are coming soon i think maybe fran might take longer than lulu ?! maybe ive chosen the wrong character! haha!

TLund In reply to HazardousArts [2010-03-15 23:48:24 +0000 UTC]

Ok, i see (taking notes)

About if your choice was wrong, well there is only one way to know who is gonna take longer. You have to make both YEAH!!!
