Description
It was a dark and dank morning when Dante carried the feed buckets out of the main barn to go feed the pastured horses. He gazed up from under the hood of his flapping raincoat, only to have big, wet drops of rain splatter his face instantly. The weather wasn't particularly cold, but still, there was a light breeze in the air that sent a shiver down his spine. He was heading towards the yearlings' paddock to grain them, when he spotted something unusual, in the corner of his eye. Dropping down the heavy buckets at his feet, he stood up tall and looked over in the distance, to a pasture down a steep knoll, where the broodmares were often turned out. He knew that one of them was due fairly soon, but shouldn't be popping for another two weeks, at least. It was Warped Reality, the Friesian broodmare they had leased about 11 months ago.
Dante didn't like leaving broodmares late in their gestation out overnight in the fields, but he had been given strict orders, the previous evening, to turn out Rea, Jasmine and a couple of other broods overnight. It was planned so that it was Rea's last night out before she would be confined to her stall until she foaled.
Yet what he saw over the fields made him raise an eyebrow suspiciously.
"Am I seeing things..?" he asked out loud, as he squinted. "Oh, no."
With that, he quickly sprinted back to the barn and grabbed a lead and halter, before calling out for Dahlia to come and help.
Dahlia was bringing in Al Zahra when Dante roared orders to her. She hurriedly brought the Arab back in her stall and dashed after the stablehand.
"What is it?" she asked him.
"Rea foaled last night."
"Oh. Okay," replied the girl, slightly perplexed as to why this was so dramatic.
"She was outside," reminded Mendoza, as they reached the gate to the broods' enclosure. "Just our luck.." he then added, while looking up from the gate's lock he was fiddling with, into the horizon. "Could she help us any less?"
In the distance, across the sprawling paddock, as far away from them as she could possibly place herself, stood the Friesian mare, a miniaturized version of herself at her side, curiously gawking at the two humans.
And so, the pair set off in the ankle-deep mud and manure of the sloshy field, the rain pelting down on them mercilessly. When they finally arrived to the two horses they were seeking, Dante thanked Rea sarcastically for not having budged a muscle during their grueling trek here. He gently slipped a halter on the brood, and handed Dahlia the lead.
"Let's hope this kiddo's nice an' healthy. We'll check its vitals and call the vet once we're out of the rain. Okay, so I want you to lead the mare to the barn, and I'll make sure baby follows."
Dahlia nodded curtly and began to walk the mare towards the gate.
Dante watched the foal, waiting for it to trot after its mother, but the black baby didn't budge. Instead, the filly simply looked up to Dante, as if asking ‘well, what do you expect me to do?’
"Why do these things only happen to me," grumbled the stablehand as he began to shove the foal's dirty bum in her mother's direction. Little squeals of outrage escaped the newborn's tiny mouth, but it was clear she was just being annoying on purpose. She had a lot of gusto in acting this way, and quite a bit of fire in her belly, sending a few kicks to Dante's shins whenever she could.
Finally, the foursome reached the stables and dried off the baby, who protested wildly. After checking the little Friesian's vitals, it was confirmed that all was alright. The filly was running a very light fever and her joints were somewhat swollen, so they had the vet come down anyway, but aside from that, the little girl was quite lively.

Our mares sure are dropping a lot of fillies, this year!
So, here's another one of the results from my HARPG breedings . :3 I didn't want to shade, but it looked weird, so I did a random, quick, new shading style I wanted to play with, lol.
Methinks she's going to be a killer dressage champ. 8D
Reference of a Friesian foal was used for this. Can't find it again, however... *grumbles*

She's very cute. <3 I like her face and expression a lot. That new shading technique looks interesting. The story made me giggle to myself a couple times which was nice after some lengthy school-related reading. Her personality cracks me up! I can't wait to see her compete.

Haha, that's what I was going for. At the breeding farm I worked at, we sometimes had a few foals acting just like this. x) Some of my mini-stories are actually inspired from real life events I experienced there, lmao..
Thanks!

ooh she's gorgeous!
I sold my last two unrealistic Friesians, im finishing up colouring my chestnut boy, because when I first found out they came in chestnut I squeeled, then I found photos. I also found photos of the white friesian who was bred with queen approval. How kool is that?
Im working on more natural coloured horses for my stable and splitting it up and refurbishing our new barn.
Im keeping one of my Cremellow Arabs, his breed needs changing...im talking with a woman in RL who breeds Arab dilutes and im interested in them. I need to re-work my RL breeds and colours dreamhorses
My Zebra Moonwalk will be there too..I need to get him a mare to keep him company though.
Any suggestions would help
SO what im saying is I will have realistic horses up sometime. I know another peron who has a chestnut friesian mare in the game and we would love to breed this colour, I know I know its a banned colour in rl, but the game offers to trial out your dream horses..and the chestnut friesian is one of them for RL dreams.
ok sorry, ranting lol you inspire.

Haha, yeah, but as gorgeous as the white Friesian is, he's only half-Friesian, if I remember correctly.
Can't wait to see your realistic side. I'm glad I inspire, teehee. x)
