Description
I actually bought a couple sheets of this paper to play with a new style of name badges but I snagged a sheet to play around with this. It has a such a nice texture that I think it lends itself to Egyptian themed pics. This is Satis. A not very well known Goddess, she is associated with the flooding of the Nile, hunting, war and fertility. One of her titles is "She who runs like an arrow. She is often depicted with Gazelle horns or as a Gazelle itself. She is often shown as a consort/wife of Khnum. I choose to show her as a Soemmering's Gazelle which was a gazelle known to the upper Nile and Nubia where her cult was situated. And last but not least, yes I know those are male horns but as her headress in art always shows the male horns I figured they'd work well on a morphic version8 1/2x11 watercolour on paper. Prints available

Does the Egyptian bird symbol on her shoulder have some special meaning?

The vulture is a protection symbol as well as being the symbol for Nekhbet, the vulture goddess of Upper Egypt.
