One reason I really like this deformed style is it takes me back to my original theory/style... I tried to make my characters look cute and happy! But as my style evolved, I started to get away from that concept... basically losing all the cuteness and happiness. I really liked how Man-Ape came out, his stance and facial expression reminded me of a TNA wrestler named Monty Brown!

Well you have to experiment sometimes with style to discover new things, so don't beat yourself up over it.
Like I am far from being an anime/manga artist but I studied all the art books based on that style that I could find because I wanted to give it a shot and even though I never stuck with it, it ultimately helped me refine my work in some areas.

Studying other styles is very beneficial in drawing... like your fave artist, you can take what you like from it and incorporate into your style.

That's what I did. Most of my real early stuff is a weird mi of Erik Larsen, Jeff Johnson and Kirby

I think there's a little of all those in my style too! Johnson really made an impact, still look thru his Wonder Man run for inspiration.

His run on Wonder Man was epic. I loved that series. As soon as he left it went to crap.

I noticed in the latest Marvel Preview that their collecting some West Coast Avengers issues into a TPB, so maybe Wonder Man is not far behind!

I hope so. I've been collecting the AWC Tpbs. It's awesome seeing them reprinted on nice glossy paper and I love the computer recolors of some of the original art.
Though now they are up to the issues where Wonder Man is wearing that god awful Green and Orange Rocketeer outfit.
I think if they had just gone with a different color scheme and lost the rocket pack on his back that costume would have worked better

Done and done! That's the magic of this deformed style... I penciled/inked/colored 8 characters today!!! I could NEVER do that in my old style, just hope people enjoy theses as much as my other stuff.
