Description
I tried to match the colors of the original design as best I could, but I think my colored pencils have a mind of their own. That or colors on my phone (which I was using to pull up his original reference while I colored) look different than they do on my laptop.

Anyway - this is my first QuillDog! Meet Aldebaran!

Aldebaran (don't call him Al - he prefers to go by his full name) is the firstborn son of QuillDogs Iler and Uxie. He is a rare lesser deity, and is 96.875% QuillDog (62.5% normal, 25% Quillless, 12.5% QuillDragon) and 3.125% Jackastrala.

Proud, stately, and compassionate, Aldebaran is a champion for the weak and a protector of all. He sees this as his sworn duty, and will go out of his way to take care of those who can't take care of themselves. He is fair when doling out justice, and works very hard to stay unbiased and impartial when he can, in order to make sure he is as fair as possible. He is very to-the-point and doesn't tend to sugarcoat things.

Aldebaran's fur is a deep, rich copper color, and glints bronze and gold in the sunlight. His scales are gold-edged bronze in color and are warm to the touch. His quills glow from within with golden fire, and they can burn as well as puncture. His front legs are fringed with soft, feathery fur. Dark circular streaks color his brow, and golden feather-shaped markings run down his neck. Two long feathers sprout from behind his ears. The fire around his shoulders is red-gold and hot to the touch, but does not burn him. His eyes are pale and faintly glow blue-white. He likes to wear jewelry made of long golden chains with simple beads and decorations, plus simple armbands, and long chains and golden flowers in his tail.

Aldebaran is the magical companion of Opal, enhancing her fire magic. He respects her and feels respected by her, making their partnership very strong. Everyone knows better than to mess with either of them, knowing that their pal will be right around the corner in a flash. He is also chief protector of the stable property, and will be the first one to investigate anything suspicious.

Aldebaran is named after the star of the same name, which is a red giant and the brightest star in the constellation Taurus (which, coincidentally, is also my zodiac sign!)

Aldebaran was originally designed by MischievousRaven , and was purchased from this set!
